The amount of tradies who take payment in cash and dont give receipts is quite a lot i have found..... it doesnt bother me one bit in the slightest!

As long as they do a good job...

"cashies" are the preferred method of payment, so what if they dont charge GST??

pre-GST it was the same, i knew a few places which ran two invoice books!
Pay cash? sure! here is a discount...

Without sounding like I'm trying to preach, for all those that pay tax, we have to pay more because of those that do cashies. Not that most os us want to, but we all have to contribute to the running of the country, you know help those that will not or can't work etc, if some chose not to pay their part, the rest of us have to make up this shortfall and pay more.

I do agree with this. In the end, if the guy is avoiding tax he will get caught regardless.

It just makes me angry that a person that is such a ****** gets away with out paying tax, its quite clear this is happening since he didnt take a copy of the receipt for his records. All of us have to pay tax so why should he be any different!

He didn't come to my hose but he came to my work so same kind of thing.

Just because he did not take a copy of the receipt. He may just have 2 books, 1 for the his work log with how much it was and the other for receipt.

If you just wanted a regas, he probally has a set price and charges the same every job, then he Just makes note with details of how many regas jobs he has done and works and keeps record.
