Very sad thing to see and what's worse is that there is nothing there that can't be fixed with a few $$$.
If it wasn't a question of $$$, then I'd gladly throw 50,000.00 ^ into one of those to restore it I've always loved the XY and the XW. That broze one at the top could very possibly be an XY Monty yes?? My dad had one years ago and had it valued at $8000.00 back then. Stupid twit swapped it for a 16ft pantec truck

why don't you go and buy one then?
oh, you don't have the money? That's what everyone else said, and that's why they're there.

This is no sadder than it is to go to a wrecking yard anywhere within Australia and see Falcons piled up rusting away in the weather.

yep that`s a shame, apart from the performance versions of the xy and xw, i reckon the the old falcon 6 cylander falcons where a pretty good car too, while i never owned one, for a while in my younger days a work mate would pick me and another bloke up in his 3.6......... three on the tree, the driver was always running late, and he used to get up it on the way to work, and the old xw used to go well, heaps of room, reasonably comfy , dead easy to work on, i remember an old fella had a 302 v8 set up for economy telling me he was getting 28 mpg on a trip, good old cars these.

he definately isnt an idiot ^^
it is just one of the advantages of him owning 3 huge wrecking yards. the owner is keeping them to restore them, or to use as parts for his other cars. he has a decent collection of muscle cars, i have worked on a couple of them.

so, he takes what he needs then leaves the rest to rust to the point of no return and then sticks them in the crusher. makes good business sense.

he has been doing this for quite a while now,
how many warehouses of parts do you keep as spares? the ones on the bottom are a bit beyond restoration.... once they have taken any bits needed, it gets put out in the yard for the general public to pick parts off. the cars then sit out in the yard for around 6 weeks, then if there's not much left on them they are crushed and the next car goes out. i have found quite a few good bits left on them still. there is a good XW? rear cut (b pillar back, $1000) including boot, lights, bumper, springs etc sitting in one yard for sale, and a couple of LSD 9" Disc brake rear ends ($750ea) , and a rusty XB GS bonnet ($110) all sitting there waiting for new owners.
