Try this link. If you get on it, it has a fairly comprehensive system for identifying ford engines/bodies etc.

Whats peoples definition of a crate motor?
When I think of a crate motor, I think of a brand new motor built ready to fit into a car, sent to you in a crate or on pallet. In this case it must be a reconditioned OLD engine as it has the engine numbers from an Australian xa falcon on it. |

Old block, new motor is how I know it. Unless it is an alloy block where new blocks can be purchased over the counter. |

New blocks from the states. Iv bought in a lot of new crate engines for customers and a few 426 Hemi engines and other race engines for myself.
I know there are now a few different versions of new cleveland blocks floating around also. |

I know that for the crate engines here in Oz, namely Pavtek, buy a lot of used Clevo's from someone I know.

Cheers guys, I called it a crete engine because it awas purchased as a rebuilt engine, made of an existing clevo block with all new internals, and it arrived on a wooden crete...
So its an XA Fairmont block, thats a good place to start...
