I came across the book on the museum in my library. The cars in the book are amazing !! Happy claps to Clive Cussler for preserving these cars. They are some of the cars produced from 1900's to 1940's.Bentleys, Rolls Royce, Ford, Dusenbergs, Stutz, Cadillac V12 & V16. etc...Clive Cussler is the author of the Dirk Pitt novels...

Awesome find! I wasn't even aware of this...I knew that Cussler had a big collection of magnificent old cars, but didn't know he had a museum of them.
I've been a big fan of the Dirk Pitt novels for many years now...as the blurb says on the novels, Clive Cussler very nearly lives the life of his character, diving on shipwrecks, discovering important historic underwater sites, etc.

And yes, read the message from Clive and you'll realise that this is how wealthy celebrities should be spending their money instead of snorting it up their nose or buying a Prius to look "green". We all know about Leno and his amazing collection...but Jay Kay is the only other celebrity who springs easily to mind who does this as well, but his cars are mostly more modern than Clives.

Yep, the cars almost play as big a part of the novel as the characters do.

For anyone who has read one of the Dirk Pitt novels hands up who wouldn't give lefty for an old hanger like the one Dirk Pitt lives in, complete with all the vehicles he has in it (not just the cars, the lot...the Ford Trimotor plane, the classic railway carriage, the bathtub with the outboard motor...)...?

They certainly were. An era of low wages, thousands of craftsmen who were skilled in wood and metalwork who desperately needed work, and car makers who were prepared to offer them an outlet for their talents at a time of depression when any job at all was a bonus. We won't see that sort of thing happen again soon.
