Default Battery question?

Going on holiday for 5 weeks and was thinking of disconnecting the battery. If I was to leave it and the battery went flat, would the alarm go off?

Would not recommend it, very senstive computer control system goes a bit haywire if loses power. Took 2 days and tow to local dealer when battery went flat to get car going again. You need backup power system when replacing battery as system seems to constant power.

Get yourself a Ctek charger and fully charge and condition your battery before you leave. It should be fine for 5 weeks. I don't think that there is much draw on the battery when the keys are out.

Bovva is on the right track. Way back in 2009, mine went flat - terrible. Do a forum Search on Flat Battery and read the sorry saga. Took about the same time to get it sorted, was about this time about three years ago as well.

I left mine in 2010 (with a new battery in it - thanks Ford), for two weeks with no dramas when went to Townsville, started first turn.

If you can get the battery checked do so, otherwise, I reckon you'll be ok.

Mine was an Oct 07 build, but I didn't get it until Jan 08, which meant the battery was sitting for at least three months, and I never used to lock it in the garage. All of which I learnt can add to battery detoriation. If yours is 11 build it could have been sitting for a while as well before it got to you. I had a replacement Mondeo ordered that was built on 2 Feb 11, that I didn't see until May 11, so that's a long time sitting. Didn't get it due to a change in family circumstances.

seriously, you guys need to have a read on the Ctek chargers. You can buy them on fleabay and they prolong your battery life. They will also fully charge your battery. You may be unaware but the alternator will not fully charge your battery. Have a read about these chargers. They are well worth the money and they can be left on the battery in maintenance mode whilst you are away and keep the battery topped up.
Have a look at their blurb video halfway down the page on the link attached. and no I have no affiliation with them or anyone. Just suggesting a very good product. I can let you know where I sniffed out the best price if needed
