It is not so much a case of mirror, signal, manoeuvre as mirror, signal, mascara.
Almost half of women admit applying make-up while driving – mainly because they get out of bed at the last minute, a poll reveals. Some 46 per cent go for last-minute beauty top-ups – most often at traffic lights or while queuing – and 43 per cent say they do it even though they know it is wrong. Rush hour: 43 per cent of women say they put on their make-up in their cars on the daily commute Rush hour: 43 per cent of women say they put on their make-up in their cars on the daily commute Insurers estimate that as many as 450,000 accidents a year are caused by women drivers being distracted while applying cosmetics. Yet only 14 per cent said using make-up in the car affected their driving, according to a poll of 1,000 women by semi-permanent make-up specialist Debra Robson. Lip gloss, mascara and lipstick were the most commonly applied products by commuters. But the reason for their haste is time pressure. A fifth are so rushed in the morning they spend just five minutes doing their make-up. Quick touch-up: The most popular make-up products applied by commuters are: lip gloss (chosen by 35 per cent), followed by mascara, lipstick, bronzer and eyeliner Quick touch-up: The most popular make-up products applied by commuters are: lip gloss (chosen by 35 per cent), followed by mascara, lipstick, bronzer and eyeliner Quick touch-up: The most popular make-up products applied by commuters are: lip gloss (chosen by 35 per cent), followed by mascara, lipstick, bronzer and eyeliner And it isn't just behind the wheel that women are carrying out an on-the-go beauty regime. More than six out of ten (63 per cent) put on make-up on the train, and a further 43 per cent on the bus. The most popular make-up products applied by commuters are lip gloss (35 per cent), mascara (30 per cent), lipstick (25 per cent), bronzer (6 per cent) and eyeliner (4 per cent). Furthermore, a panicked one fifth (21 per cent) are so rushed they spend just five minutes doing their make-up, while 42 per cent spend 10 minutes and 22 per cent spend 20 minutes. Only 10 per cent of women spend 30 minutes or more putting on their faces before work, and just 5 per cent don't wear any make-up at work. Debra Robson, of Harley Street clinic Debra Robson LDN, who commissioned the survey, said: 'We all know putting make-up on in the car is wrong - but nearly half of us do it. 'It's because most professional women do everything in a rush, particularly in the mornings when they are juggling a multitude of tasks. 'That's why so many women are finishing off their make-up routine on their daily commute - whether that is in the car or on the bus or the train. 'Faced with such time pressures, increasing numbers of women are trying semi-permanent make-up. 'It saves vital minutes in the mornings and means your make-up looks great from the moment you wake up.' http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/ar...=feeds-newsxml

I must admit I do shave when I stop at a set of lights on my way to work (electric razor).

I wonder if there was a poll on does your:
1000w stereo, 1000 rwkw engine mods, customised interior with 50 extra gauges and lights, 20"++ bling wheels, lowered suspension and modified body kit, whatever else makes your car different from a slow FWD bubble car, affect your driving in a negative way how many would answer yes? One point to note is that most females can safely and efficiently multi-task while most males need to turn down the radio in order to read street signs...... |

As long as they are doing it when they are stopped at lights or in stopped traffic, I don’t see the problem with it.

Turning down the radio to read street signs/find car parks/locate house numbers is common across the board, you guys aren't special
No seriously. It turns down the volume button on your brain for the visual comprehension listening to the radio As for women doing their makeup in the car because they're running late? I get up at the butt crack of dawn to get ready for work, be there on time and not miss the train. There's a reason I don't use makeup, and never really endeavoured to. It's a time waster. That and I've never been to keen on sticking pencils near my eyes.....

^^ Better get in quick as I can't see this thread ending well, just wanted to add that my wife hardly ever wears makeup either, she doesn't need too. What is it with woman's obsession with makeup ?

My theory.
More make up = Less brains. Some chicks look like they dip their head in beige plaster and colour in their features. Looks pox. |

Reckon I pass atleast 3-4 women every day applying make up whilst driving.
As someone else pointed out, if they are stopped, I don't have too much of an issue either. Except, I see this on the Gateway freeway so they are doing 80 - 100km and still having a go at it. They do say though that the finer species can do more than one thing at at time ...so maybe this is normal for all women ........I'm just saying ??? Maybe they should dissect a few to study it properly ? Can I volunteer my ex wife ??

I have said this many times...but me and my wife roughly take note and count women v men drivers when we see dangerous, stupid or similar things on the road. 95% are women. Please don't take this as sexiist....ask my wife...and her friends...as they have been convinced to take notice and have been horribly supprized.
Maybe a simple lack a respect for what a car can and cant do I don't know....but thems the real world facts.....checkyourself. |

I believe women look far more sexy WITHOUT makeup.
Do women stop to think about the long term effects of their skin absorbing those chemicals. Theres lots of things we can do while driving, the best thing to do though is concentrate! No amount of makeup is going to make you look nice after surgeons have put your face back together after you've hit the steering wheel at 100klm/h and rammed a tube of lipstick up into your sinus cavity! |

I must admit that I am a culprit of sometimes applying makeup, but only when stopped at traffic lights and only lipgloss and mascara. I wonder if it is something that police would pull me over for, if seen at traffic lights. True it's not right.
I do see plenty of people eating in cars while actually driving ! I think that is probably more dangerous. |

while my wife is no barbie she is beautiful to me and to be honest she does not need make up for me to think that
she does not drive so doesnt fit into this area but she even hates putting on make up when we are in the car ( on the few times she puts it on ) even when we are not mobile Jason
