A mate of mine has just unchanged a blinged up Jeep Wrangler for a great price and wants I de-bling it a little.
Biggest thing is the exterior door hinges. The car has stick on chrome 'caps' (oem Mopar I think), does anyone know of a solvent that can be somehow applied that will seep under and break the glue down? |

It's a keep I'm sure water will help wash it off ;)
Honestly now it will depend on the glue type, is it possible to pry it off or would that cause too much damage?

Cheers guys, levering them off will cause damage and the glue removes the paint on the hinges hence the need to use a solvent, heat gun sounds like a great idea.

What about advertising them and see if someone wants to swap a stock set of handles?

Heat gun to loosen the glue enough to pull them off first maybe dental floss if it can be worked into the crack to help break the seal., 3M make a range of solvents that will get rid of any glue, 3M Scotch 700 comes to mind its in a black aerosol can and works quite well.

Thats a great tip staity. I just got a message from him saying they are now off, borrowed the missus' hairdryer and he scored some Body-Solv (Aussie company).
Xauterus, he'd have to remove the 4 doors entirely to unbolt the hinges. The bolts are body colour and exposed to the world so disturbing them would require a repaint after re-assembly unfortunately. He's cancelled his order for the Mr T necklace now |

He bought a Jeep? Highest recall vehicle in Australia after Holden. Has he been sniffing solvent? |
