From memory, when Google trialled their self-driving car, it crashed twice, first when a person was driving the car to move/park it, and then when someone else hit it. I have faith in the computer

The problem with any of this hi-tech stuff, is computer hackers can take control of your car.

Once this is sorted the roads will be a safer place. I love my driving but it's obvious the biggest defect in cars in general is the loose steering nut. i.e. The nut behind the steering.

I read recently in the Australian newspaper that there is a major issue now arising with driverless cars. BMW is apparently the leader in this area and has a multi kilometre section of road that their car runs faultlessly on. The problem is.......when faced with a moral dilemma, does the computer controlled car swerve to avoid running over a kid that runs out on the road if it means the result will be a head crash with a vehicle coming the other way? or does the algorythm choose to sacrifice the child which will reduce the likely chance of multiple fatalities. Who then is to blame either way, the passenger / driver, computer, BMW company, road authority etc etc. This will be an interesting conundrum for the promoters of this technology to work through.
