Default How much is too much to expect people to pay for a bucks night?

Well as the title suggests, how much is too much to ask people to pay for a bucks night? We've had my bucks night all planned and the list of people coming has dropped from 40 to 20 in 48 hours. People answered yes, had a few days to think about it and then called back saying they had to re consider.

So.. The day starts at 11:30 with lunch at the pub, then get on the bus and head out to the paintball place. Paintball for 4 hours, barbecue tea, all beer and food on bus supplied also, then pub crawl to a couple of country pubs, then from Lorne back along the coast to Aireys, Anglesea, Torquay and back to Geelong. Cost for paintball, Bus, Beers on Bus, and Barbecue tea is $110. Is that unreasonable for a bucks night?

Depends on people's incomes and expenses.

If it was me, $110 is reasonable, but for a mate of mine, he'd be pushing it if it was $60.

Well mines comming up in a few days now and we are doing the same sort thing, paint ball out at carrumdowns (spelling...) and thats like $75 each, still dont know how we are getting out there.... but anyway then back to the city for some grub then into the sprippers for a few hours, been quoted $35 each for a group of 10 and that gets a private room and a few different acts. Have got around 12 ppl confirmed outs of 20 so will see if they start to fall off as it gets closer

Considering what they're getting for the money, that's not too much to ask. Maybe some don't want to do paintball, and perhaps they could have an option to join later, for less cost. Considering it is a buck's party, you need one or both of these: porn and/or a stripper. :

The people who have pulled out after confirming i dont think would matter if there was some choice nudes or not. I think i'm gonna have to look at making the join half way an option. Got quite a few keen to join up later on. Had 60 interested in the beginning. paintball made a few shy away to begin with which bought it back to 40 confirmed. Now due to cancellations due to second thoughts it's back to 25! Stupid me just paid the deposit for 30 out of my own pocket so i'm gonna be the 1 who loses now!

If they confirmed, and you paid deposits based on the confirmations and then they pulled out, then I'd make them pay anyway as you've incurred costs to secure their place and it's pretty poor for them to do that.

Thats not bad at all - I just organised one for two weeks ago and we all payed 170 - but we did go deep sea fishing.

For my own Bucks over 2 years ago most of us spent 200-300 when we went paintballing. We are not rich pricks either - most of us were labourers tradesmen aprentices etc.

my bucks was $70 for each bloke who went, that included go-karts (2 runs of 15mins) then dinner and beers up the pub. Some of my mates even baulked at that cost.

$110 isnt too bad for what you have organised, but not eveyone will have that sort of cash to throw around. My advice might be to offer part attenance for split costs, which is something I did, people who came along to my bucks could do karts and dinner or just karts or just dinner.

$110 seems a bit high to me, plus the cost of a stripper on top of that. I wouldn't mind betting that the cost has a lot to do with the second thoughts and its taking up most of the day. Blokes with wifes and girlfriends using up most of a day for a bucks night might find themselves under a little pressure.

A stripper??? go to a strip joint, why settle with just one, trust me they love the bucks _2:
Also for anyone that is going to schmidty's bucks night i have a concrete ball with leg chain that could come in handy, saves chasing the buck to 'Douse" him. It is a good way to stop the buck from hurting himself to, while trying to escape the wrath of the bucks night..!!..

Yeah i've been to people i dont even knows bucks nights and forked out as much as $500 bucks. Guess i just look at killer nights out and stuff with mates as something you can't put a price on. But then i have a lot of friends who seem to be disciplined savers and just look at the $$$$ signs. Doesn't even worry me that people are pulling out because of the cost its more the fact that i got definite YES answers so i booked and paid deposits on 2 busses ($200) and paint ball ($600) And now another day has gone by and another 5 pulled out so we're back to 20 which means only need 1 bus now so i've done $100 there, and $200 on deposits for the bail out crew. So haven't even had the day and i'm down $300! Anyway, we've decided to detour the bus past everyones house who pulled out and ИИИИ on their doorstep! That should make for a funny night!

It's human nature, not the cost.

Everyone says 'yeah sure' at the start, then there missus finds out or whatever reason and ppl pull out. Happens all the time.

I regularly pay more than $110 a night on a normal fri night out, so that sounds like nothing.

Your bucks should be an all out thing, you shouldn't skimp on it. Maybe tailor a few different events during the day for different ppl and those that can go to whatever come along to whichever event they can afford.

I just had a bucks on the weekend. it was $75 for Bus, drinks on the bus and entry into some nice place's. I ended up spending over $350 for the night which included drinks and other items..... I spoke to the other guys and every one spent about the same and we all had fun no regrets on spend that money.

You could go either way on this one. I reckon you think about your few closest mates and what they can afford and go from there. 20 people for a bucks night is still pretty good. When we were planning kaytonk's bucks night, we had some decent plans, we were gonna go skirmish and go karts and we were thinking about attending a drag race as well. 2 of his mates couldn't afford anything decent, so, we planned something cheaper. There were 4 in attendance at the cheaper event and it did not include the 2 who we changed our plans for.

Just do what you wanna do and have a blast!

yeh $110 is reasonable as, esp for transport, beers and paintball.. hell i could easily spend that on taxiis alone..
but yeh it all comes down to if they are tightasses or not and if they are whipped or not, a bucks night is a once in a lifetime thing for the grroom, so his mates should do their best to go and run amok..

I went to a bucks show and it cost me almost 100 for the paintball, and that was before lunch. Some boys bought 2 cartons of rum (100+) for the duration. Then Schutzenfest and pubs after. I guestimat I spend over 250 and wasn't even ИИИИed.
Long gone are the days of going out to a mates farm and running a muck without fear of cops, yobbos or bartenders overcharging then cutting you off.

$110 for what you have orgainsed is reasonable. I would go. Impressed with your numbers - 25 confirmed ?! .....I don't even know that many people in this world

Agree with comments from Big Waity about doing what you want to do - not comprisiming to keep your mates happy - Your bucks is about you and if your mates are any good then they will understand that and not f^ck with it.

People who butt in and tell you what you should do with your wedding are selfish and you should tell 'em to butt out.....unless they are forking out the $ ......then you should at least hear what they have to say first before telling them that they are selfish and to butt out

Thanks Huys. Glad its not just me that thinks thats how it should be. I decided just to do what i had planned and what i wanted and whoever comes comes, and who doesn't won't be missed anyway. Got the day planned in 3 legs now and the numbers are coming back up. Got 42 for lunch, 32 for paint ball, and 30 for the pub crawl. But all up there are just over 50 people involved over the course of the day so looks like its all gonna work out.

Bif of a follow up and an ending to the whole saga. I finished up with 35 people on the day. Everyone who came had a killer day, decided after the day took place that 11am Saturday morning til 4am sunday morning with a bus, drinks, skirmish and a ИИИИ load of laughs it was well worth the $110. I finished up very very very wasted, came home with 6 G-Strings off lovely young ladies that were kind enough to donate them to my worthy cause over the night, and 1 king size hang over!
