Not sure...
I like the fact it's a XY drifter but then I don't like the fact it's an XY drifter lol. "Published on Mar 8, 2016 Built over a 12 month period, James Mackie’s Ford XY has certainly attracted a lot of interest at Aussie drift events. The unconventional drifter was originally intended to be powered by a Ford turbo six, however a GM LS1 engine and gearbox ended up being a cheaper option to get the car up and running." >> Mods : Please delete if this is a repost <<

SACRILEGE!!!
It's a shame such a classic has been thrashed to stoop as low as the drifters. Only one rung higher than packet soup eaters... |

Even if it was a GT, his car his money.
I would prefer to see it being used than built into a replica.

Love it, I don't understand why people get precious about mix and matching manufacturer parts. As long as the car sounds and goes well then well done!
I'm open to the idea of any type of v8 swap for my XW one day. If it's a Clevo then great, but if an LS swap came in at a nice price and gave good power with a beefy sound then why the hell would you not? |

I'm not that interested in drifting, but at least the guy has style.
Moffat lost Bathurst in the XW driving like that, but he had no choice. |

Ls is the best bang for buck v8 going for a conversion. It's no contest.

No it's because it's a cheap reliable power plant that will boogie with just a little bit of work

And sub 200fwkw stock...
Barras are good, but if you want a v8 and don't care about brand name, a Ls is virtually impossible to ignore. |

Hey I say good on the guy... It makes a change from the Jap Stuff....
Its his car, his money and his life... If he wants to make his XY into a Drift Car, then more power to him... the only XY's that are worth keeping stock are original GT's... Apart from that, who cares... LS Motors are good as they are cheap to buy and easy to make power out of cheaply... A barra 6 Turbo would be good, but still probably too much $$$ to pick up...

If you didn't know it had an ls1 then we would be all over it. I think it's pretty cool seeing a barge thrown around like that.

The fact it's an ls1 in an XY doesn't bother me (not my thing but doesn't bother me) the fact that he's drifting it also doesn't bother me, i don't particularly like burn our comps either so drifting and burn outs are about the same in my book, I find neither to be very entertaining
It's his car and I'd rather see it doing this than doing nothing

1: Props to James for having built something out of the norm, it beats hell out of yet another fake GT
2: His car, his money, and bang for buck, I'd bet that he's had and given more enjoyment with that car since it first turned a wheel in anger, than the rest of the "Polish and Carcoon" GT crowd combined 3: Theres a big "Zero ***** given" side to having a LS, the damn things can be found everywhere, and make good power dirt cheap, and have an aftermarket following that makes everything else look lame, which makes power adders incredibly cheap too. What this all boils down to is having a late model, cheap, common and easily modified powerplant that you dont have to be afraid of hurting, unlike, say that pillow block 383 Cleveland that someone has dropped into their fake GT but is afraid to give it a squirt because they cant afford to replace it if it goes bang. 4: The guy has more talent than a LOT of people, theres a vid out there of several cars attempt a cloverleaf barrel racing course and make a dogs dinner of it, James smoked the tyres out of the box and kept them spinning around the entire course, doing the cloverleaf pretty smoothly and without screwing up! Yes, the low carefactor regarding the engine can help with that, but isnt that half the idea? 5: Show me someone who says they dont hate being flogged by someone elses ****box, and I'll show you a liar.
