Th 5 speed shuddering in low revs going up hill

Got myself a 09 falcon with the piece of **** 5 speed auto trans (was advertised as a 6 speed). Actually not as crap as it’s meant to be but it’s only done 85000. The only problem is when going up hill at in 4th or 5th the revs drop to mid 1000s and the car start to shudder all over. I can clear it by accelerating hard but it’s starting to give me the ****s as I drive up more hills than normal people. Guessing it’s a sign my box is starting to live up to its reputation. Anything I can do?

I have never had that specific transmission, but I have had automatic transmissions that would begin to shudder.

I found a particular additive would eliminate the problem for me and my experience. It is called Lubeguard. It always worked for me. I can not promise it will always work for every situation.

Could also be the lockup clutch in the convertor. When you accelerate, it unlocks, allowing the revs to flare a bit, and if you keep accelerating, it will downshift.

Yeah feels like that’s what happens. Sitting at mid 1000s then when I accelerat there’s a second or two delay and the revs shoot up and the shuddering stops. Reckon I need to take it to a trans shop?

Also if I take my foot completely off the accelerator then start accelerating again the revs go to a good level and the shuddering stops

This stuff works for tq converter lockup band engagement and disengagement too. At least in my experience.

Yes, it would - the TQ clutch is also a friction surface, which has the trans oil circulating around it, and the additive will help.

Check for fault codes. It could also be a solenoid or trans wiring harness issue.

Shudder under a light, uphill, load can also be caused by worn or faulty coils, leads or plugs.
