Default Why won't Ford Australia list the Mustang as a car?

Apparently, Ford Australia don't consider the Mustang a car. Going to their main page, clicking "all vehicles", then "cars", only two models are listed: the Focus and Mondeo. To find the Mustang, you have to click the very last tab - "performance". This is obviously a deliberate decision. On the US Ford website, for example, the Mustang *is* included in that very first "cars" tab. So why doesn't Ford Australia want it there?

After checking other Ford sites around the world (they all use the same exact site layout, which makes comparisons very easy), only Ford NZ follows Australia in "hiding" the Mustang. Most others have it listed in the cars section.

You don't happen to work for Ford Mr Z?

Is this click bait?

I put 'Ford' into Google and selected vehicles in the list under Ford Australia.

You are right about two 'cars' listed but you failed to mention that there are a number of cars listed under 'performance' and to save others clicking on Ford's website, the vehicles listed under performance are: Focus RS, Focus RS Limited Edition, Mustang, Mustang Bullitt and Ranger Raptor.

Now that's one "shopping" page I'd rather visit than office printers that I'm currently bored researching.

I already mentioned that the Mustang was listed under the performance section, at the very end where no one will notice it. The question I'm asking is this - why isn't it under cars as well? Is it not considered a car?

Probably needs to be under CAR, doesnt really fit performance when its up against cars like this, straight from the factory.

New Dodge brand cars are no longer available in Australia.

Perhaps they should put the Mustang GT in 'performance' and the Mustang EB in 'cars'.

The way Ford are going axeing jobs in Australia, would anyone miss Ford if they pulled out of Australia and that’s how their website ended up looking

It is possible that the cars tab may disappear. Mondeo's future is bleak and Focus is pulled out from the US
I imagine Fiesta ST will be added to the performance section too

Will three tabs to choose from make it easier to find the mustang?

Well, since they have sold nearly 22,000 6th Gen Mustangs since its release in 2015, and is now Australia's top selling sports car...
People don't seem to have a problem finding it.

On the badge thing ...Unless you're from another universe everybody instantly knows Ford is Mustang and Mustang is Ford instinctively without any badge reference directly to Ford Motor Company .

I truly hope Ford never forget this and the immense value that it brings to company. Ford do some pretty stupid things, but stuff the Mustang up and that will be it for many followers/buyers.

You would be surprised how many people identify cars by colour.

As in "what type of car do they drive"?.... "Oh it's a small green one" or "it's a big white one"

Unless they're 'car people' they don't really care.

Not only are there no FORD badges... there are also no MUSTANG worded emblems on the exterior of 6th Gen Stangs.

All it needs is the Horse emblem in the grille and a GT badge at back.

Interestingly on the US website they have ST models under the Performance tab and Mustang under the Car tab except for the GT350

My girlfriend is one of these.

She recently pointed to a crappy old Camry and said, is that the same car as yours? (G6E)

We were at the shops and instead of walking up to her little red Audi A1 she walked up to some faded red Charade and tried to get in.

But on the Mustang, does the website matter that much?

Anyone wanting to buy one is likely to walk into a dealership to do so.

And the Mustang is super easy to find.
There's the rotating panel at the top of the page showing a bunch of mustangs.

Scroll down and there's a performance ad showing a mustang nose to nose with a raptor.

Scroll down a little further there's a bullit mustang.

Scroll down more and there's a direct link to building and pricing my own mustang.

I haven't even gotten to the menus.

Really, you think so

Walking into the dealership is the last thing I do, the company website is my first stop.

Why isn't the Ranger Raptor in the Commercial section? I'm sure you'll be paying commercial rego on it like a regular Ranger
