Now there's a stimulus package this forum could get around. $10k to be spent with businesses to improve/restore vehicles

Anyway in the spirit of the game I'm buying either:

JZS171 Toyota Crown Athlete V
JZS161 Toyota Aristo V300 Vertex

Both available ex Japan for $10K-$13K at the moment.

Put me down for cashing out $20K across two financial years for the scenario

If it's gotta be Aussie cars then put me down for a 2001 WHII HSV Grange.

Given many jobs may be under threat, these magnificent vehicles represent options for a versatile side hustle.

The joy will be short lived. You can not access super early unless satisfying certain criteria due to financial hardship. They have gone for expediency over procedure in these unprecedented times like they have with other schemes. There is no way it would be this easy otherwise.

This is not a failure, it was about getting money out to people as quick as possible but if you take the **** and get caught you're in trouble.

You'd better hope that it was a good investment

Wife just said No to my suggestion to use as a getaway camper.

At the very least it would create good conversation in an otherwise quiet caravan park

OK we have some players now.
I will join. I will take out the 10K option, and buy 4 XH Panelvans in an attempt to corner the market. Like the options desk of a big hedge fund, I'll take out a few lines of the ask all in one hit - 4K for two clean ones, and the 2 at 2K firm for restorers.

https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/lily...van/1251099937

https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/murc...ans/1252938701

This is doubly clever, as with a panel van I can flee from the ATO, and win the competition, if panel van shells become as valuable as LC Torana 2 door shells...

Doesn't have to be Aussie - just where you think will do best.

You can work on it and do it up if you can generate the profit from the idle time when locked down - good for mental health too!

I cashed out 20k
I'd probably buy the most reasonable condition HSV I could buy.
As much of a Ford man I am, I think the Holdens will appreciate better for a while.

As we lurch more towards an American-derived false nostalgia, I’m tipping trucklets as goers. SWB non-dually, ideally stepside but styleside if you must. Dodge or IH.

I doubt the government cares if people **** it up the wall, in the end it’s cash flowing through the economy that otherwise wouldn’t have been.
Unless that person put it to better use than if it had been left in Super.

Yes and no.

I hate the idea of Super - having said that I'm good with my money and invest well. If I had the choice to not pay it I wouldn't.

This is the exception unfortunately, not the norm.

How many people you hear call the radio crying for a handout;

"I'm 77, Iv'e worked my whole life and my rotten teeth make me not able to eat properly, I'm on a waiting list and should get a spot next year, I don't have the $2,000 needed to get it done now - please someone help me?"

Or similar.

Aim for the stars. Incidentally, that was the price asked of an auto blueprint AUIII XR8 brand new, 0 kms, on runout in Horsham when I was working there in 2003 and it was unloved a year after the AU ceased...
