Default Need advice on legal stuff :\

Ok pretty much I hit another car from behind (I don't feel as though it was my fault, but in the eyes of the law it was, so that's besides the point)

Anyway, the damage is small enough to not get insurance involved.

I got the quotes today to get it repaired, however one states the car as a 5 door (it's a 3 door).

Also, The car has already been repaired, without me saying or paying anything.

Where do I stand here?

You have three quotes so you know roughly how much it is going to fix the damage.

Does not matter that the car is already fixed - ask them for their invoice and if it is reasonable based on the other quotes then pay it. If it is not reasonable I would try to negotiate with the owner to pay the average of your quotes.

Good Luck.

Cheers, Tori

PS you still need to disclose this information to your insurance company - even if a claim is not made - its is part of your duty of disclosure.

1. demand to see the car repaired
2. I dont think they can just get it repaired and make you pay up

Sure do... You need to make them aware of everything that happens in regards to your driving history. Even if you are not making a claim for their damage or your own damage. It is all in your PDS. 9 time out of 10 they will do nothing with the information but you do need to let them know. If you don't let them know they have the option of voiding your policy or not paying a claim in the future because you haven't held up your duty of disclosure. I have seen it happen.
