I feel like all their efforts with Cadillac they should have just introduced under a new entrant into the US market, sell it under Holden in the US.

That way new brand to the region, no preconceived ideas about the cars and not destroying an established brand that it's customers are stale old men who buy floaty pieces of shit that drive like the Costa Concordia
That was all due to the earlier development work by Mark Reuss and Mike Simcoe (ex-Holden)
Reuss and Simcoe’s last chance with RWD performance was Alpha platform vehicles and the
Reworked Zeta II for larger LWB vehicles. Those two made sure that their RWD platforms were
near on impossible to rework into SUVs…..

Lots of raves over the vehicles but the sales never really materialised, I guess people who buy
German brands want to be seen in then
They’re like bling…….fashion accessory.

It's easy to understand GM management decisions, just think of the most logical solution to a problem, and then expect the opposite.

"The real loser in the General Motors deal is the legitimacy of the economic system in the United States. Although there were large profits to be made from the launch of the new GM IPO, a precedent has been set whereby a government administration can confiscate the ownership of a company, reorganize it, and pay off its political supporters. The former investors were betrayed by political decree, and once betrayed, the legitimacy of the system will never be the same."

Here's a Grand Wagoneer review that mentions in passing the Escalade, Yukon, Navigator and how it doesn't compete with X7 or GLS directly:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKHxUjSLbrs

Got Chrysler's new Hurricane twin turbo I6 in it too. LOL at the 'fireplace scene' displaced on the screens for relaxation in a Jeep.

Geez those things are ugly, it looks like one of those late 70's American wagons, just with higher ride height.

I kinda dig the automotive diplodocuses, reviews of them are like a trip back to the 1970s Big 3 reviews in mags here.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZ2AW3xRM-g

As she says, "y'all keep buying them so manufacturers keep making them..."

The Wagoneer wins the review, and wins it for me - better interior, most comfortable drive, best economy, most size. A base Expedition at 58KUS (about 88,650AUD) plonks right in amongst upper dual cab utes and their wagons and for that you get 2 sizes more.

If work ever saw me go to the US and earnings permitted, the biggest one of these in the longest iteration, just because.

It's got nothing to do with USA vs China

It's all about the nearly 100 Chinese Vehicle Manufacturers and how far advanced their products are over anything Yank.

That Grand Wagoneer thing looks like a dual cab with a canopy, the rear proportions are all wrong for a wagon.

Went past Ford's in G Town today, their display vehicles looked awesome with 3 F-150s taking pride of place next to the front door outside the showroom. Did I mention how huge the things are when seen in real life?

I said Western brands so that also includes Euro brands which are all struggling
And yes, exactly because Chinese brands are taking back their own market.

Of course, the Chinese government would have nothing to do with influencing buyers….

https://www.motortrend.com/news/2025...t-look-review/

"The 2025 Lincoln Navigator comes with a zen-enhancing app called Calm. You may already subscribe at the $69.99 annual rate, but a year is included free with your Navigator purchase. It powers mindful meditation routines. The multisensory 5- or 10-minute programs engage all your senses by involving the sound system, screens, ambient lighting, scent dispenser, plus seat heat, ventilation, and massage. The “Calm” lady can speak her mindfulness patter, or you can veg out to your own audio."

That front screen would look pretty mint with a Playstation plugged into it.

Spotted a black Escalade in Epping (NSW) near the big Meriton site today. So your predictions are fairly well on point, albeit the competing marque.
