I really dont understand why Ford donttrial importing the Falcon into the U.S ...see how the initial reception is...it could save $$$ in development costs... and thats what they need...though why do i get the feeling they wouldnt like the idea of an Australian car being better recieved than an American built one?

I have met a lot of Americans and many of them have been intrigued by the Falcon, particularily the utes. They can't really describe them, they refer to them as being similar to the Chev El Camino. The common theme I have seen though, is that they like the Falcon (and Commodore) a lot. I have done some research on the history of the Falcon in America, and while the Aussie Falcon started off as an american design, the American designers lost the plot when they shortened a Ford Torino in 1970 and stuck Falcon badges on it. This was basically the end for the Falcon in the US. The Ford Ranchero was basically a Falcon ute. It was different to the Aussie ute but still quite nice. The 66' Ranchero was the last to be based on the Falcon, before they started basing it on the American Fairlane. (The 66 Ranchero used a front similar to the XR Falcon with a unique rear end). I reckon the Falcon should make a comeback in the US. I believe it would be a huge success. As for the Fairlane, maybe there would still be hope for it if they started selling it in the US as the Crown Victoria. The current Crown Victoria is incredibally old and outdated. I reckon the Fairlane would be a suitable replacement. If only Ford US would start selling these modern Fords from around the world rather than their current outdated pieces of crap.
BTW welcome to the forums.

ahh america's car industry is falling apart! hey, ill buy an import as long as its not from japan!! fords sales have fallen 3% in the US and went up 3% globally.........ok this sounds stupid but ive came to the conclusion fords american end is trying to file bankrupcy in order to void all previous contracts with retirees and all the overhead they have so they can start new again. the employees want too much money for what they do and are driving the market away from the US. in pittsburgh the garbage men were making upwards of 100,000 dollars a year!!! give me a break! its the way the entire population is going......"well i dont do alot but give me more money"
