Default Mobile Phone feedback now that my current contract is nearly up.

Im about to start looking at replacing my mobile as i did almost two years ago i prefer flip or slide style of phone (my current phone is a slide)
From what ive looked at im leaning towards Motorola V3 or V3i
So i was after feedback from people that have this phone & there thoughts & also people they maybe in mobile phone retail there thoughts & opinions & on phones from other manufactures that have the same features as the V3 that i should look out.
Thanks

Well, I recently purchased a Samsung E720 I think it is. Most phones I am sick of after 2 months, but the Samsung I am in love with. Looks a million bucks, all the necessary options, and the software is sooooo easy to use, moving music, movies and pics from computer to phone or vice versa has never been easier.

The V3i is nice phone, the only downside is the software can be troublesome and a software upgrade may be required once or twice over a two year period.

The Nokia 6280 phone is a decent competitor to the V3i, a little larger in size but so far a reliable phone and typically easy to use being a Nokia.

If your being practical then have a good look at the 6280 if your after a more stylish phone then the V3i is a good choice.

Exactly what ive heard. Assuming you have no problems, they seem like a great phone. I dont have one but a few friends do and ive had a good play around with them. Always be a nokia man myself....

My Motorola E398 is probably a bit old now, but it's a great phone, shame about the charger.

Do yourself a HUGE favour and steer clear of Motorola.

Constant software issues and the worlds worst charging port and plug design will see you making several trips back to the dealer and getting more and more frustrated.

I was in a mobile phone store the other day and was looking at a brochure that had the return rates for mobile phones with faults. Motorola topped the list with a return rate of over 20%. Sagem was the best with only 4%, and Nokia, Samsung and Sony Ericsson were all under 10%.

Motorola is American, where as Nokia is Finnish, Samsung is Korean and Sony Ericsson is a Japanese/Swedish merger.

Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericsson - you can't go wrong.

I've had nothing but trouble from Nokias. I wouldn't buy one if they were the only one available. The ones I had crashed at 13 months ... just after the 12 months warranty expired. And they cost more to repair than the cost of a new phone!

Current phone is a Sony Erickson with no problems and the wife has a Samsung.

I cant really help, ive never been 100% happy with a phone ive bought, but ill tell you what, the Samsungs are tough! I put my NEW phone through the wash, I thought it was rooted, but I opened it up, and a few weeks later it had dried out and its now working again (apart from the camera which is probably because I opened it.)

I have the Motorola V3.... (got it in the black of course)...
Love it totally.... only real problem I have had is the screen can get a bit scratched (there isn't a cover that suits apparently)...

I do know of others having hassles with theirs (but they have dropped them or bounced them lol)

I love my MOTO :

Go Samsung.

I bought a E730 about a year ago for $300 on ebay from a hong kong dealer

Best phone i've ever used (and I used to do phone repairs!)

Clamshell(proven very strong), Everything you need, nothing you don't, rock solid software(never has crashed), fast processor that doesn't bog down when memory starts to fill (90mb), Customisable (ie change system font colour), outside preview screen(see whos calling you/see current time without opening the phone), 1.3 megapixel camera with ISO equiv settings and spot focus setting, FM radio, mp3 player, bluetooth.

2 of my mates got the same phone after I let them borrow mine. The only problem is the inside silver trim has started to come off after the backing glue dissolved from my sweat being on the phone all the time in the summer(4+ hours a day). Superglued that and its all good again.

Another problem was the battery started losing its longetivity from a week to 2 days standby. Bought a battery off ebay for $9.50 (not a typo) and everythings good again!

Whatever you do don't get a 3 phone. Most people I know have problems with them

Also don't get a Nokia 9500 Communicator with Blackberry services. The phone "forgets" that its acting as a Blackberry, and you have to rip the battery out everytimes it happens (4 times a week)

Don't get a Motorola, in the 2 way/uhf etc radio game their kings, I'll give them that, but phones, their processors are slow and software buggy. If your only using for phone and messaging, there fine, but as soon as you try to take a few photos/other multimedia prepare for a crash! the V3 bluetooth is slow as well.

I have owned around 250 mobile phones. Most of them nokia.the main phones I used were ...the nokia communicator 9000 9210 or 9200 and now the 9300 .The software sux.It has compatibility issues. However they are the only phone which I can recieve faxes on. Many nokias have power issues.Take the battery out and it asks me to reset the time.

The best digital phone I have owned was a brick motorola. It was one of the first digital phones ever made.I still have that phone but the battery had died so I gave it to the kids to play with.I used to be able to kick it 7 metres on concrete and it still worked like a charm. It was built to take it.

Oh yeah if anyones phone gets soaked with water, TAKE THE BATTERY OUT!

Water+electricity causes corrosion on the circuit board tracks.

Dunk it in clean water (demin if possible) then get it dry, preferably by opening it up and washing/rinsing the board, then attacking it for 30mins with a hairdryer. If anyone wants more details I can PM you a tried, tested and proven method I use.

Stav, have you looked into an having a laptop with a wireless internet card then internet fax service. I'm guessing though the prices would be a bit higher than your current method ;)

I have the Samsung D600, and this is the first Samsung phone I have ever owned. It has also been the best phone I have ever owned after owning Nokias, LG's and Motorola phones previously. A fantastic phone which looks classy and professional with all the software etc provided. It comes with 2mega pixel camera and the movie play back is out standing. I love it and its functionality.

Definitely worth a look.

I bought mine from the Optus shop for $0 on a $35 per month business plan. I was real happy with that after coming off of the 3 network. (bloody indians)

Do a google search, and read the reviews.

Does your current phone still work? If so save your money and put it towards a mod for your car or better yet invest in some gold or silver.

There are some sharp phones going cheap on ebay now, I have a Sharp GX10, But I'm looking to upgrade to a Sharp GX30i, It's a flip it puts my current phone to shame which i got of my nephew over 2 years ago and he got it from his boss so it's over 3 years old now and bullet proof.
But on the Motorola my brother is about to buy a V6 Pebl, It's a burger with the lot it's a real top phone.

Ok I have the V3x it's great. It can play mp3's straight from my computer (I am listening to it at the moment) It has expandable memory so it doubles as data transfer drive from my work / uni / home. It also has a two megapixel camera which is about as high as you get at the moment . Of course it's black.

Besides that it has all the usuals - internet, video and normal calls.

I just got one last Thursday too. I can't believe the camera quality (for a phone at least), absolutely fantastic. MP3 player, SD memory card and everything else that opens and shuts.
All my other phones have been CDMA, with little features, so this is fantastic.

Got it free on a Vodafone $79 cap, which gives you $500 worth of calls each month. So if you use your mobile a lot, how can you go wrong?

I've had 4 Nok's in my time, now sitting on N70.. sexy little gizmo it is, i love it.

Specially when packing a 1 GB mem card, turns it into a little ipod.

I've also had eriksson but my first pref is Nokia.

I currently have a Motorola V3 and its awesome. Not one thing to complain about.

Hey also in todays paper here in Brissy (courier mail) there was a Strathfield brochure and on the front page - get a Nokia 6020 (dunno how good they are) - and if you go on the 38 plan for 24 months ($38 a mth) - you get an Xbox 360 with it!!!! And its the pro version - so 20 meg hard drive, remote control, hi-def av cable and wireless controller. I reckon thats an awesome deal??!!

Ah, thought that might be the case. Didn't think I was that lucky. Still having quad band technology isnt anything to frown upon. I love my D600. Top phone. :
