Fine for me too. I'd probably re-download it.

You will find it on the Australian Taxation Office's website (www.ato.gov.au). On the homepage there is a link to the E-Tax program.

Just a general comment to everyone, don't EVER go to any other website to download E-Tax. If you Google "E-Tax" it will take you to a heap of pay websites that are essentially internet tax agents that take that information and submit it via the Tax Agent's lodgement systems and they charge for it.

Currently there are some issues with the Centrelink Pre-Filling facility, that should be functioning by the end of the week I'm told.

This has been a paid political advertisement by the Liberal Party, spoken by M. XR6Turbo, Adelaide.

Default etax 2007

Hi
Did my very late 2007 tax return on etax 2007, then lost the program. now i can either do the whole tax return again or get another copy of the etax 2007 program. Rang the Australian Tax Office who said they didnt have a copy any more!!!! Then i found this thread. does anyone still have a copy of the etax 2007 program?

Beat me to it... My ex did it last year and told me she had to pay with a credit card to submit it... After I explained to her on how she used a site run by some accountants in QLD she called me again last week to ask a few questions again...

Yup.. what I told her last year went in one ear and out the other... she was back on the paid E-tax site... the ATO should step in on this one, it rips off many people who don't know how to read and interpret sites and google results.

The ATO E-tax site is 3rd on the search results list...

lincpike - You cannot lodge prior years using the E-tax software. So even if you manage to get a copy of E-tax 2007, it will not be able to lodge the return. The E-Tax software is only valid for the financial year it applies to, and closes off at February 28th every year. So E-Tax 2007 finished in February 2008. You should be able to print your E-Tax out and send it in, but make sure you call the ATO on 13 28 61 and get some guidance on what you actually have to do in that regard.

Yellow Festiva - The ATO has no power to do anything about the E-Tax issue. When this first reared its ugly head several years ago the ATO tried to put them out of business by claiming that "E-Tax" is a trademark of the Tax Office. However the Federal Court deemed that "E-Tax" is a generic term like "E-Mail" and therefore, no one can have it as their exclusive trademark.

The ATO tells people every single year that the ONLY place to get it from is www.ato.gov.au. Unfortunately if people do not go to the ATO's website, there is not much that can be done about it.
