Question Ignition Barrel

Lost keys to AU,
Wondering how you change ignition barrel on a AU.

Sheer bolts you would chissel hammer them out, could u drill thru them ?

Once i pull the whole ingnition barrel out,i could either replace the whole lot with a 2nd hand from wreckers or just replace barrel with new?

My concern is,with smart lock smart sheild would i have promblems when replacing ignition barrel,ECU wont register to start with new ignition barrel ?

cheers,

Sounds too easy I guess ford will charge a bit for doing this ?

I guess it be cheaper and easier than replace the whole lot and this way you still get a key for the door ?

Give Shaun Traynor a call at Belconnen McGraths. He's the service Manager there. Tell him what you need. Just mention that you were referred to him. Butter him up, so he might give you a good deal :

you can just pop the barrel out without touching the lock mechanism...from memory you turn ign one click and there is a little button type thing ya push and the barrel will slide out....if ya using a new barrel and key you will have to get in coded by a mechanic with a good scan tool or ford.....

Mate just take vin to ford get key code. Go to a master locksmith and get cut , they will also be able to program key to car. I can , cut and programmed about 120 to 200 depends on travel. Cheers Bos
