The same thing happened in Brisbane Greater Union/Birch bought the drive ins sold em to developers after they apparently /cough didn't work out.
Consequently there is only 1 drive in left the whole of the Greater Brisbane area and thats at Yatala. I wanna see em try and shut that one down, damn thing has a following as big as Phar Lap and Falcons.

So get behind the ones you have left to save them other wise you will lose a truly unique experience that your kids will one day ask you what a drive in was.

I've been there before and meaning to go back... Sad day when they closed.

I can see though why they weren't making any money.

no need for the smart arsed comments....if you've never been to a drive in, i suggest you go before there are none left.

sadly, they're dropping off all over the place, as land values increase and admissions decline. its unfortunate, because the driveins make for a great night out

Same thing happened here in Adelaide they closed down about 4 or so that i can remember in the last 10-15 years, its a shame, there is only 1 left here, makes for a great night out, something different then the cinemas.

Long Live Yatala in Brisbane!

At least there will be one left, because the owner is a youngish guy that loves it and has no intention of selling and usually always has a full capacity.

and eh where else can you take both your loved ones (the car and missus) out for dinner and a movie!

man I love the drive ins. THey shat all over going to the regular movies. Cheaper, you get 2 movies, bring your own food, beers, cigars/ciggies, cooking stove to make your own popcorn, plusif you have a lady/man friend you can get a little 'frisky'. Im single, so I dont know anything about the last bit......

Drive inn's are a great night out, and for any one whos interested the OLD TIME STREET ROD CLUB are holding another drive in night. Gates will open at 6pm

Movies will be as per Greater Union schedule.

its pretty much a hot rod night but if thats your thing its a good night, I went to the last one but the weather was a bit off so the turn out wasnt great

Here's some photos I got at the last one

If your in to that sort of thing its not a bad night

Drive ins are great but with the rising cost of land and greedy developers
things like this are disappearing.

I'm dreading the loss of Oran Park at the end of the year.

By the way that green 32 is owned by my mates old man!
