Thread re-opened.

WARNING: This is not to be taken off topic as a 'bag out religion' thread. The original post is simply teaching people something they may or may not already know. I've cleaned out a lot of stupid posts, and i don't want to have to do it again.

Keep the thread on topic, and let's not lower ourselves into insulting those who may treat this holiday as holy.

The thing that irritates me is that places like Woolies start cranking out the hot cross buns on Boxing Day.

I heard they were $5 for a pack of 8 today at the store I used to work in, and the area manager is wondering why they aren't selling...

Hot Cross buns should be available all year round, the longer they are here the happier I am.

Good post Nick.

Note that its the "Spring Eqinox" is for the northern hemisphere. Its our autumn eqinox.

I have this thing about the equinox. Next to my place, directly in line with my house, is this 500m stretch of cypres trees, east west. During winter the sun sets to the north of these trees and during summer to the south. It crosses over about the time of the equinox. I always feel down the day it heads north of the trees. I am off to England for three weeks on Friday so it will be well and truly north of the trees when I get back.

Have asked the same question myself. Bit of info on a few of the links above that I didn't know of and that may help answer your question.

Brief read. All about lunar cycles ........ I think.

I gather the fact that Easter is early this year is why the school holidays didn't fall into that time.
It was a little confusing for not only parents but schools apparently :

Yeah but you guys have a thing for coloured chook eggs. :
I still remember the first orthodox easter that our neighbours gave us a basket of them.
I saw them on the table, and got really excited, until I dropped one and realised it wasn't chocolate.
