19 deaths one year and 15 deaths the next, it can hardly be said that this was due to the new laws.
They're saying that this campaign has saved 4 lives (supposedly, ignoring yearly trends and general statistic) and raised countless $$ in revenue, seems well worth it from their point of view.

The headline is also very missleading, there has been a 21% drop in deaths, it doesnt mean that 1 in 5 P platers were killed the year before or that 21% of P platers died the previous year. Still seems like a waste to me, but smoke and mirrors. :

To make better younger drivers they need to make them do compulsory hours of driving a manual with an instructor. None of this mum dad stuff all the learner is doing is picking up the parents bad habits. And yes the media will look for any excuse to blame p platers

Blah blah blah, another P plater thread. Lets hear recycled opinions again before everyone comes to the conclusion that driver training and education is the only thing that will save people.

See that? I just saved 4 pages.

19 deaths last year, 15 deaths this year. Hmm... Don't suppose the ridiculously high petrol prices that mean People drive less have anything to do with it now.
Hey that's another angle: High petrol prices save lives. yay
Isn't it funny how marginal statistics are manipulated to show whatever the topic of the day is.

License types don't kill.

Foolhardy and careless people kill.

Well why don't the government implement that then instead of continually upping the amount of speed cameras ("Constable Kodak"), upping the fines, and bringing in new laws to "save lives"?

Education is prevention and is a lot better, but when will these politicians realise this?

I don't know. Perhaps 50 more topics will help?

They realise it ... they aren't going to do anything about it though, we all know they do whatever it takes to ensure being voted in for another term ... and to do that these laws make the mum's and dad's happy knowing 'young hoons' are restricted. It's about as simple as it gets.

Oh and for everyone else around, I drive a 5.0L AU on P plates ... if you drive responsibly then cops won't bother you, been driving it for the last 7 months.

Assuming those statistics are correct (good one!), everyone has suffered just so 4 idiots wouldnt crash their cars.

When can we try my philosophy, let the fools crash, and up the speed limits!
