Bassically i decided to buy an EGAS BA Cab Chasis ute and found one in QLD so i rang the guy up and talked about it and explained i was from VIC and all that, got down to business and crucnched him down, he finally agreed to the purchase for the price i was wanting to pay on Thursday night. I told him that the airfares were not refundable and i was bringing a mate to help with the drive back and all which he said "no Drama's" and spoke to him Friday Arvo and explained we were all go, i had the cash and we would be up the next day at 9am.
We get to Brisy Airport and catch a 1 hour cab ride at $90 to his house, in the cab i sent a sms to let him know we were on our way and about 5 minutes later the drama unfolded. I get a sms from a different number stating "i sent you a sms yesterday to tell you i had sold the car", which i never got mind you. so i rang the number and it turns out that it is his mum and she doesn't know what is happening just that he asked her to send me a sms cos he was out of credit. I am Livid by this stage and we get to the address so i wanted to talk to him and lo and behold he is gone, The girl who answered the door says she knows nothing and it's not her problem, and that he left with out saying a word. So i ring his mum who also says she cant contact him and would pass on the message. So i told her we want our money returned for the flights and taxi totalling $920 with the return flights. The chicken little did'nt even have the balls to stand up and appologise for his stuff up and ran so i never spoke to him as his phone was off and no one knew anything, which was lucky cos had i seen him i might have ended up in a jail cell in QLD. I have bought heaps of cars and bikes from interstate and have never had dealings with such a scum BAG. I think it is a real pitty we live in this type of a society that someones word cant be trusted and that you could have the shamelessness to let someone come to so much troulbe for nothing. i wanted to pay a deposit which i was told no dont worry, and it got to late by the last minute decission by him thursday night. I know that there a some people out there who if you stuff around will hurt you real bad. My philossophy is you never stuff with peoples family or their money! Forest Lake QLD, It just annoyes me that it happened, not so much the money but the fact that their is such a lack of respect. I would not have the .... i dont know what you call it but i simply could not do that to someone i would not be able sleep at night, i value my honour and my name all to much to have it tainted with such unessary rubbish.

i've actually ran the risk of losing a sale in the same sort of way. i had a car for sale. some people came and looked at it but i wouldn't budge enough when they tried to bargain. they left. next day i offered it to a work colleague for the same price. he wasn't sure and wanted to look at it but couldn't do it till next day. then the original people rang back saying they would pay what i wanted but i had to tell them i'd offered the car to someone else and was waiting for them to have a look. i had no idea if the work guy would actually buy it or not but because i gave my word i turned away the definite sale on the phone.
unfortunately there are those out there it seems who have no morals. i've actually bought about 5 cars from interstate and luckily not had this problem. |

There are low people everywhere, and unfortunatley we are hearing more and more stories like this. There isn't much you can do after the fact and not much you can do before the fact either..... it sucks that people are dishonest and lack integrity these days.

Nah in all seriousness, the guy you dealt with is a waste of oxygen to do that to someone. I dont blame you for having words with his family. He's lucky you weren't in some form of gang or he would know all about it. I reckon next time you go interstate, you should put a shout out to any members on here that live locally to personally check it all out for your own piece of mind.

I'd have to say in addition to my previous comment, I would prefer to put my trust in a well respected member of these forums to look at a potential purchase and get his/her opinion and judgment way before making any flight arrangements.
I'd even go to the effort of paying that forum member for their time to do so.

S3SR you are right, we did think about punishing him, i would have loved nothing more than to belt him. Shows how scared he was to leave and let his mum and girlfriend defend him.

Sounds like a pansy.
Story time: Me and my mate caught a train to sydney to pick up a worked EF, took about 10 hours, and the car was nothing like the pics or the condition it was described to us. Was missing wheel studs ffs, no electrics in the interior were working, stereo surround missing with live wires exposed, bodgy as 'aftermarket' exhaust, bodged up rear quarter with matte paint, and I'm sure there was more too. And this bloke was an apprentice mechanic. Some people will tell you anything to sell something.
