Default Having kittens!

Heh, not me... our Chocolate point Siamese is currently having kittens. I'm sitting with her, helping her birth them. Shes not quite an adult yet, so shes having a bit of a struggle, but shes doing quite well.

We're up to number 4 and I can feel at least another 2 more, so shes absolutley packed.

Here is what she looked like Yesterday:

So far, as we dont know who the father is, we've got one mid brown, and 3 Dark brown. It is a bit early to be sure on colours tho.

Glad I'm not a cat. That looks VERY uncomfortable.

I'll say, she had 6 kittens.. between 11:45am and 2:45pm 3 boys and 3 girls.

For such a tiny cat, thats a fair effort.

You don't know who the father is? I'd suggest a call to the rape crisis centre firstly, followed by a visit to the vet.

And we all want pics of the happy family.

Ok here we go, pics of the new family:

There will be a trip to the vets shortly to make sure everythings ok, but we're fairly experienced with cats, being a foster home for cats with Best Friends Rescue (bestfriendsrescue.com) here in Brisbane.

Mum and babies are doing well, albeit all quite tired. For a first time mum, who is not even fully grown, to have 6 live kittens is a bloody awesome effort.

The siamese colour point is a recessive gene, so unfortunately unless the dad is a siamese too it is very unlikely that the kittens will be the same colour. And considering she was unfixed and just left to wander around outside, it's unlikely that dad is a siamese too.

Still cute regardless though :P

I must point out that she was infact rescued from a farm from distant relatives. They apparently got her to be a 'mouser'. Anyone who knows siamese cats, knows they're simply not the mousing type.

She was being abused, ie kicked out of the way, and yelled at because she wanted affection. Shes a beautiful cat tho, with a great temperment. She just loves attention.

It was only when we got her home that we found out she was pregnant.

Thats fantastic.

I'm glad the whole process went well, and I hope that you find good safe homes for the kittens in due course.

Thanks for sharing with us!

There is a stray cat at work that my boss has befriended, and its just had kittens about 3 weeks ago, they're just starting to run around. Cute, but not forklift friendly!

Cats are great companions.
If you don't want to have to pick up poo from your grass, cats are great. Just feed them, clean their tray (if they use it - mine's 13 and doesn't touch it except emergencies) and let them outside (if applicable).

I really enjoyed your pictures. I still remember when we got this cat.
While she didn't like me (or my brother) at first, it took me years to mature and stop tormenting her. Now, we're like best mates. She sleeps next to my pillow or on my computer desk chair almost every night.

I hope they find a great home. I can certainly say that cats are great as pets.
