Not legal, and if you get rear ended with tinted lights, don't expect insurance to come to the party either. You can probably tint everything but the globes/reflectors though, if you are still keen.

It's illegal and for good reason.

My brother did it with his VL Commy and he got busted by the cops.

He played dumb and said he brought the car like it is, and got away with it.

I personally think it looks great and should be legal.

might look great in some people's oppinions but notice being behind a car with them it is harder to tell what they are doing. especially if there are crappy bulbs in it

If done professionally with the proper tinting paint, it does look good.

The Vk Calais came with tinted rear lights standard and it made the whole appearance of the back end stand out and look great IMO. The rear lights were also still easily visible to see both day and night.

People who buy tinting paint from super cheap in a spray can and do 10 or so coats, then yes it is hard to see the lights and is unsafe.

Im pretty sure its only illegal if the light isnt visible in the day time and the reflectors weren't obscured?

I did it on my VR, along with the garnish and it looked pretty good. Just dont go over the top, a couple of coats to make a point but dont go nuts like alot of people and drive around with black taillights and then get alll upset when they get done for them.

If you don't go overboard it looks fine.

My idea was to not tint the brake light, reverse and idicator areas. only the rest of the light. Looks pretty trick.
