Oh no not the GT!

My son (2year old) ran to the window to watch the garbage truck like he always does. It was on the opposite side of the road. After it passed the guy accross the roads house we noticed he was reversing his BA GT out of the garage. He has a sloping driving and behind the GT not in the garage was his other daily runabout.
It happened in slow motion for me, he drove it out slowly and carefully and I could see it about to happen but before I had any time to shout out he backed into the other car. It was just a very light tap but he got and looked at the GT and then the runabout. I couldn't bare to watch so I went back in.

I would be gutted if I even just put a tiny mark on an otherwise immaculate car that is washed and detailed fortnightly.

Poor bloke. Still if you've got a gt, and a daily, you can usually afford the insurance excess.

i would be so devo!!! if its a sloping driveway maybe he did not see it, im only short and when i reverse my car a have to sit right up high just to see the boot lid, and thats on level ground

Cause the driveway was sloping he didn't see it out the back window.

However when walking to his car he would of seen it there and then forgot.

LOL. That reminds me of my old girl. She went into the garage opened the garage door with the remote some how must of pushed the button twice so the door went down again got in the car and reversed straight into the door. I did laugh

It's not hard to bump the button sometimes. I've gone outside in the morning to find my garage door open. One thing I am careful of is to never park the car under the roller door, unless the door motor is disengaged. Car is either in the garage or out of it.

My mrs did the same thing but she got her own back recently when I chose D for Dopey instead of R for Reverse

Remind's me of the new GT that crashed into the wall on the burnout pad at the Kwinnana Motorplex in this years Motorvation in Perth. He got lost in his own smoke and rear ended the concrete wall.
I think he got the loudest cheers on the day...Poor guy.

There’s a big difference between these two.

One is a poor bugger who made a simple mistake, one that any of us can make. The fact that he was driving so slowly, shows that he obviously takes a lot of care and has a great deal of respect for his pride and joy.

The other one deserves everything he gets.

What? Deserves everything he gets? Last time i checked it was not ilegal to do a burnout on a burnout pad.

Maybe not illegal.. but som1 doing a burnout and damaging there car is a completely different concept to someone accidentally bumping into something.

Why is it everyone looks down on guys doin skids because they're "damaging their cars? at the end of the day they are enjoyin their car their own way and that's what they are there for. each to their own i say in both of these instances its unfortunate but thems the breaks its not cool to hurt yuor pride and joy reversing out of the driveway or enjoyin it no matter the value

Thats not what I said, of course if someone does a burnout and damages their car then thats their fault. Its the fact that he said, he "deserves everything he gets", like doing a burnout on a skid pan is a horrible crime thats endangering hundreds of lives. A skid pan is either far away from the grandstands, or has big concrete barriers pretecting the people on the grandstand.

Let me add some clarity to my previous comment.

I couldn’t give a damn about anyone who damages their car in a burnout competition on a burnout pad. I also don’t remember commenting about the legalities of such actions. The cars that I’ve seen in these competitions are “usually” clunkers that are either repaired after the comp to see another day or are scrapped.

So, in summary:
If he blows up his diff, I couldn’t care less.
If he scrapes a concrete barrier, I couldn’t care less either.

If he’s prepared to use a GT in a burnout comp, it just shows that he has more money than brains.

Anyhow, back on topic.

Yep, my missus did exactly that less than two hours after picking up her car from the panel beaters from a warranty repair - and damaged the exact same spot that had just been repaired

.

Just recently scratched my XR6 backing out of the driveway at my brother's new house, in a thunderstorm, at night. I was saying to his missus in the back seat that it'd be good if they had rear window wipers on bigger cars, then heard his letterbox scraping down the rear quarter

. It's not a GT, but I love it nonetheless so I reckon I know how he feels.
