Default Nissan Releases Images For FIA-GT1 GT-R Race Car

My dream car. only a dream. 1350kg + 447kw= a lot of fun

Quote:
Nissan has released pictures of the race ready GT-R GT1 that will be for sale to teams competing in the FIA-GT1 race.

Sumo Power GT(UK) and Swiss Racing Team (CH) are two teams that have signed up to race Nissan’s GT-R GT1, both teams will have technical support from NISMO (Nissan Motorsport).

A unique VK56DE 5.6 litre V8 engine that produces 447kW and 650Nm of torque. The gearbox is a Ricardo six speed with a 5.5 inch carbon-fibre triple plate clutch which sends drive to the rear wheels. The brakes are made of carbon-ceramic discs with six piston callipers, Rays supply the 18-inch forged alloy wheels.

Externally there is a full carbon-fibre Nismo body kit, Gt styled wing, plastic windows and vented bonnet. A rumoured $720,000 asking price and a kerb weight of 1,350 kg ( the production model weighs 1,720 kg).

Interesting to see how this stacks up against the Aston Martin DBR9's and C6R Vettes.

Looks sweet though.

It will be harder for them to cheat without turbo boost to fiddle with.

that many kW with that small amount of weight would make this thing insane to the highest order especially if they have retained the awd system but even if they havn't good luck getting the power to the ground, or having fun trying to get it to the ground

So I am assuming there will be a road version of a V8 GTR at some date?

Now, could this possibly put Nissan in a position to join the V8 Supercars?

V8 and a RWD platform.....................

Not saying the GT-R will be the car to join, just saying it leaves Nissan in a good position to be the 3rd manufacturer.

hmm, power output is on par with V8SC and weight is also same spec, could be interesting to see if Nissan join the championship anytime soon. The only thing is price, it wont be competitive with the COF.

So every other manufacturer in the GT series has to use the road going engine and modify it, Nissan just puts in whatever they want. What a load of bull c...

Poor form.

JUST big enough ..Lol..

Under rear wing..

Induction looks small from this side..

Easy guys its a race car...
To be eligible for the 2010 FIA GT1 World Championship a manufacturer has to field at least four cars. Gigawave was expected to continue with the GT-R but unexpectedly the team closed its shop late in 2009. At that point Nissan had already signed a deal with Swiss Racing Team for the other two cars. In January Nissan announced that Sumo Power GT would fill the void left by Gigawave. At the same time Nissan released the first details of the 2010 version of the car. The specifications were left unaltered but numerous aero tweaks were made for improved performance. Drivers and other details will be announced at a later time.

Induction is small because they run restrictors.

I know that a N/A V8 is the most suitable application for this form of racing, but my question was more rhetorical. A V8 GTR just isn't right, unless of course there are road going versions of it. It's like Chevrolet entering the WRC and putting a turbo 4 in a Corvette. The turbo 4 powertrain may be the most suitable for the application, but it just doesn't make sense. If Nissan can't compete by making do with what they have, then what's the point?

im pretty sure (correct me if im wrong) that the FIA regulations say that all engines must be naturally aspirated and take the hair dryers off the gt-r and u got a 3.8 ltr v6 that and xt would give a run hence why they're using a v8.
yes a v8 gt-r is a bit odd but the awesomeness cant be denied :
