Spotted - Aurion TRD?

Coming home from work just now, saw an Aurion with big wheels, so I did a bit of a double take, noticed it had exhaust pipes similar to the new Civic Type-R, but they were squared off at the top. The wheels were probably 19's, and on the back it had a TRD badge. At first I thought it was some idiot with badges, but on the side of the car it had 3500 S on it, proper badges that looked factory. Im sure I saw 3400 S, but I sort of discounted that because they run a 3.5 litre V6. Dunno, anyway, it also had HUGE brakes with shiny red calipers.

It was turning left off the Princes Highway onto Millers Rd, Altona (near Toyota factory).

Can anyone confirm I saw an actual TRD Aurion, has anything conclusive been released?

Hmm - I just did a quick search, and there is one 3.4L Toyota v6. You might be onto something as apparently TRD supercharges this engine elsewhere in the world. Perhaps TRD Aust couldn't be bothered with modifying the engine themselves.

5VZ-FE

The 5VZ-FE is a 3.4 L (3378 cc) engine. Bore is up to 93.5 mm (3.7 in) and stroke is 82.0 mm (3.2 in). Output is 190 hp (142 kW) at 4800 rpm with 220 ft·lbff (298 Nm) of torque at 3600 rpm. It has a cast iron engine block and aluminum DOHC cylinder heads. It uses MFI fuel injection, has 4 valves per cylinder with bucket tappets and features large cast connecting rods, a one-piece cast camshaft, and a cast aluminum intake manifold.

The 5VZ-FE also continued the 3VZ-FE's trend of being far overbuilt for its intended application. A handful of built versions exceed 900 hp (670 kW), and some stock engines can produce 450 hp (336 kW) or more. This has become a popular engine to consider when doing engine swaps with the avalibility of the 3.4 L TRD supercharger and custom turbocharger setups.

It's possible that you are right with the 3400s as i think the Prado uses a 3.4l V6.

Well thats what I thought, I'm sure it was a 3400 S badge, but like I said, I thought.. nahh. Looked pretty good I must say, but still.. front wheel drive. Cant get excited about that.

I spoke to a worker at Toyota months ago who has seen and sat in the TRD Aurion and told me that they were gonna have 20' wheels standard.

But he also told me there was no weight difference between the old Corolla and the new one......

Prado's use a 4.0L V6 same as that found in the Hilux with a different state of tune.

Aurion TRD is a S/C version of the 3.5V6 they are using in the stock models currently

unsure as to how this sales person sat in one they havent been even given release dates to us or final specs..

It is the same 3.5L V6 in the normal Aurion as Eaton worked very closley with TRD in developing all the supercharger bits and pieces.

The TRD Aurion is called TRD Aurion 3500S which is released this month (august)... dealers should already have their alotment of them.

I work for toyota, The TRD aurion will not be sold under the toyota name, It will be sold under TRD eg what lexus is to toyota, some dealers will have seperate areas for their TRD showrooms.

The TRD aurion will come in 2 forms,

3500S - supercharged
3500SL - supercharged luxury

Thats about all they are telling us. but yes release next month followed closely by the TRD hilux, then trd corolla next year, guess how many KW's the corolla will have?

Wow I was so excited about the TRD Aurion I fell asleep.

Toyota are rolling in moolah couldn't they make something less cynical, at least give the damn thing All Wheel Drive.

My guess is they are going to milk their 80's and 90's Supra credibility for as long as possible to sell crappy bodykit half arsed built for idiot TRD's.

i aw one of those but red pulling out of the toyota offices in clayton one morning, didn't take much notice of it. its a bloody toyota at the end of the day, front wheel drive grandpa car. if they were built rear wheel drive i may have considered getting a little revved up about it.

yeah is a pity its not awd, hell the camry is awd in other parts of the world, why can't we have it.

have been seeing one regualrly for about a month now, around normanby Rd Port Melb & crown casino going into Burnley tunnel. usually on my way home, Never thought much of it to be honest. just throught thay had been released or some Toyota exec car. its Dark blue, sounds nice, must admit. Who ever has been driving it has tried to get me to have a go a few times. Never bothered, pfft, peak hr traffic, speed cameras, etc, Also It's just a bloody Toyota after all.
