Smile is bigger really better (throttle body)

Hi everyone,

Couldn't find much on this topic ... hoping someone can help me I have a AU2 XR8 200kw and i was wondering is it worth getting a bigger throttle body ? what is the size of my one ? what about the tickford AU3.... ? can i use the AU3 220kw throttle ? do i need to make any other adjustments or mods ?can i do it at home? will it increase power / drivablilty .... it is worth it ? or sticking with mine ?

Thanks

Yours will be 65mm.
The 220 is 70mm.

There's little point in increasing the size on a standard engine.

There are plenty of other areas which will improve performance more.

Hi , Thanks alot i currently have hurricane extractors 3inch exhaust, CAI+ K-N filter X3 flash tuner. not happy with the flash (drinking to much petrol ) im thinking of getting dyno at Cresent motors for $500.00 (included before dyno + after dyno +tune to X3 ) is that good ? they also said if i wanted to take it to the next level to firstly do the cam and head work with an larger maniford/throttle and Maf + tune for $8000 . Are there any other good places to get a dyno+tune for the X3

Ok, so you have a few basic things done, but still standard cam, heads etc.

Can't say if the tune is good $$ or not as I'm not clued p in that area.

Cam, heads, and manifold will certainly make it go, and again I'm not sure if the $$ is ok, as I'd do all the labour myself.

I would still lean towards a bigger TB at this stage not doing a great deal.

A bigger throttle body made my old beasty slower. Dont go bigger than the stock throttle body.

All my testings have shown that 65 mm is all you need , fitting a 70 mm will make no difference
