Been reading a bit about the deep web and the hidden wiki...It doesn't sound like a place I want to visit but it sounds intriging none-the-less...Has anyone ever been on there...or what are peoples thoughts?

I reckon there would be some truely mind blowing stuff in there...I'm not talking like death stuff, or illegal things...because that doesn't interest me...
I'm half tempted to download this 'Tor' browser, but my privacy concerns tell me no! Haha. Edit - After reading a bit more about it on Reddit. I have NO intentions of going there at all. Wow.

Leaked documents, torture porn, organ trade, assassination pictures. The people on there are powerful. Groups like Anonymous are on the deep web and they go toe-to-toe with governments. They hack each other and try to one-up the other. It's warfare in the deep web" EDIT again: This sums it up.. "Thats mostly what got me into it (curiosity not 2g1c). XESP...Doesn't sound like fun at all. I've been on some obscure sites and have seen things on the internet that burn into your memory in a bad way...but the deep web seems like it's on a whole new level... Was looking at some screens before of 'ads'...People who will steal whatever you want for 'bitcoins'...drugs, you name it... I bet my bottom dollar there are some very very shady people lurking the depths. The internet is a very scary place.

Also sounds from what I have read is that the No.1 use for deep web is CP which means that you are more likely than not to come across those images. No thanks. |

Had a lurk round the deep web tonight after reading this.
I have seen some things that have made me lose the will to live.

I've found that theres probably a few different moral classes of people on the deep web.
From the AFP, FBI and Interpol trying to catch the pedos and hitmen, to the absolute monsters who post the most depraved things imaginable, actually, theyre not imaginable by normal people. In the middle there are the people offering drugs, stolen goods, drug running, etc. The stuff going on in the deep web is full on guys, I cant recommend a visit though because curiosity will get the better of you as it did to me and you end up regretting it big time. I have serious doubts that it is bigger than the normal internet though.

Anything that involves hackers or sicko's holds no interest for me.
There is enough sadness in the world without me checking into something on the web to see more of it....I will pass thanks. Curiosity can indeed kill the cat...Be very careful...Not everyone on the interwebz acts with the best intentions... Cheers Col

all hyped up mumbo to put the fear in technophobes.
reality is, it's nothing special. Just the realisation there's much more to the internet than just the 'web' www.something... It was around long before the web

Maybe I should loose my Bitcoin wallet.
Sometimes I think the images and stuff are there to deter normal people and the real info is beyond that. Anyway, it worked for me...I was deterred, a long time ago! |

Wow this seems pretty full on, never knew something like this existed. i don't think i would mind having a peep at what goes on, but i wouldn't purely for the worry of hackers.
FG-Frodza, what kind of stuff did you see that made you wish you didn't. Pm me if you like, i am genuinely interested |

Without going into too much detail, basically there was some stories about peoples sexual encounters which werent exactly romantic, and some images of people engaging in this sort of conduct with people of ALL ages. Pictures of torture, human experiments and brutal crime/accident scenes among other things, and meanwhile unlike me most people arent looking at this stuff for curiosity, theyre looking at it because it turns them on, and thats the worst part, not just seeing it, but knowing that people are getting off to it. In saying that, there are loads of interesting sites on the deep web too. Illegal drug sales, weapon sales, terrorist websites, leaked government info (the deep web is how Wikileaks gets most of their info), conspiracy websites, contract killer services and the like, not that I would engage in any of that stuff, but it is interesting to look at and not depraved like most of the deep web. I cant exactly say what the worst thing I saw was because I like this forum too much and would rather not be banned, but it involved babies. Now I'm no sicko and I didnt go looking for this sort of stuff so dont judge me, it must be easy to find this stuff if youre looking for it. Most of the websites are in other languages so you normally dont even know what you are clicking on, its luck of the draw. If you need to have a look and want to know how to gt onto the hidden wiki or anything, PM me and I will hook you up with a link, its the best starting point, just please take my advice and dont let curiosity get the better of you, if you see link called 'cannibalism' you do not want to see that. Happy browsing.

Its really not all that interesting, its basically what you'd see on /b/ in 2006. Accessing it won't blow up your computer or anything, its just a wiki page with links to certain sites that would have otherwise been blacklisted.
That said, it isn't for the faint hearted. I can watch pretty much anything and not cringe so it doesn't bother me but it certainly isn't rainbows and smiles (some of the sites). Some of the stuff just relates to downloading music and stuff. Think of everything illegal on the internet and multiply it. That's what the deep web is for.

I know someone who is into IT and security for the defence forces, and we discussed the Deep Web not that long ago.
It is a bit of a messy thing to understand, and it's not just a place for sickos to share snuff and sick videos/pics. You can do that on the normal net thru forums (similar to this) and other means. The Deep Web is more for educated criminals, because the regular boneheads don't understand the complexity of the network. And don't think the government doesn't have tech-heads involved in it, as they most definately do. It is more about transporting and sharing stolen information, classified information, and information that you would rather wasn't public. Think of it as a dark alleyway where you know you don't need to be there, and you don't want to be there either. Criminal activity will always happen, and the good ones (pun?) are very well educated and learn to evolve with techology. And when there is money to be made illegally, there will always be criminals who exploit it. For me - I don't need to get involved in it, and don't want my footprints anywhere near the Deep Web. Thats a street that I don't want to drive down.
