Default Do you still buy car magazines?

Thought i'd start this thread from the FHM thread , Gave me a curious question.
Do you buy car magazines like you used to?
Since i have had the net on i very rarely buy a car mag.
I can't stand SM anymore and motor and wheels just seem to go on about holden. I used to buy Performance ford mag but that stopped and the forum turned into a place of x rated porn!
The net has it all now.

He said what do you propose? i said i propose you go back and read the description! ( i had mentioned the pages ) never heard from him after that lol.

bahahaha good reply.. sadly a lot of people dont read the description or ask questions before they buy.

I have the full set from day one (as far as i know)... would cost a fortune to mail out?

I should get rid of some me thinks

I used to be subscribed to PFM magazine but they disappeared and eventually reduced their issues.

Haven't bought a car mag for 5+ years.

the internet rules for reading free info about what ever car your interested in.

I stopped buying Wheels or Motor years ago when they were integrated into the Holden marketing department.
Still buy AMC and sometimes Unique Cars.

Only get AMC, have the full collection from issue 1 (from the original run, not the reprint). Probably get enough if I sold them to buy a set of rollers for my Clevo!

i used to buy them all, sm, fast 4s nR's, hot4s, pf, basically any car mag that didnt concentrate on stockers. i think my monthly bill was over $100 easy.

but as someone said in the fhm thread, these days the news is old, the majority of the cars will have a build thread or 3 on various forums, with 11ty times more info than a mag could ever hope to publish.

fhm is the first of many to fold i reckon.

Hot 4's...oddly enough. Gets a bit expensive to buy all the mags you'd like. I always buy the Wheels magazine "Car Of The Year" issue, and have them all going back many years. I will buy the odd Motor or Wheels if they have something interesting in them.

I used to buy "Restored Cars" regularly, but jeez it's expensive now for such a thin little magazine...not anymore.

Of course, you can just go to second hand book stores and places like Vinnies and pick up all sorts of month or two old magazines for a buck or two.

I'll still buy them, but... only back issues from the 90'/00's reviewing Tickfords and the like. The T3 review in Wheels is a classic. The AU release and XR's is a fine read, too. Similarly I treasure the reviews compiled in the 'Marque' series, love the stories of XY GS's being driven at 80mph+ on our (then) unrestricted roads as the best way to get between capital cities, in an age of expensive air travel.

Used to buy Wheels/Motor, so I've got BA and Territory as COTY, but gave up after the blitzkreig 'advotainment' of the VE launch.

These days, a youtube search can show you a lot about a car's performance, and importantly its sound and handling. AMC can be a buy, too, if it's reviewing an Aussie car of interest. Anyone know the issue with the ED Sprint article?

4WD Action Monthly - mainly for the DVD and the mag is for night shift.
I recently threw out 1000's of mags ranging from the early 90s through to late last year of all shapes and selections.
A lot went out to the local laundromat and a doctors waiting rooms.

Don't buy any car mags at all, waste of cash!

Have only bought two car mags in the last 4 years, and both had my car featured in them, even made the cover of Street Fords, would never really buy the mag though

My BIL brought my 1st mag for me "Van Wheels" still buy it now I would've had every issue but silly(repeat stupid) me gave away about 7yrs worth to a friend who proceeded to cut them up too plaster his pool room walls :( (this included issue #1 of SM and the VW's)
The only other car mags I buy are Cruizin and Gasoline as they feature real street cars, I used to buy most car mags except wheels because shopping trolleys or unaffordable cars dont interest me.

Use to go crazy on the woodworking mags to now just trimmed it down to Aust wood review and current "fetish" is The owner builder and Santuary mags(be building soon...)

Wheels and Motor.

Have every issue of AMC but now that Paul Govers on board i'm starting to hate it now, he is just going to taint it with his pro Holden rubbish. The thing I loved about it was that there was no bias, just a love of australian muscle cars. Not anymore.

Used to buy Street Machine but sick of the constant one tonners and Toranas. Too much Holden.

Whenever we get a car, I do make a habit of tracking down the Wheels or Motor magazine which had a write up of that particular make in it...I've done it with my 1982 Toyota Celica (got an issue off Ebay), with the WB 253 ute (Ebay again), and have been checking around for one with a G6E write up in it from 2010/11.

I was buying the Wheels magazine up until, recently. Taking into account all the advertisments, I found I could read the whole magazine in only 1 session on the throne! It takes longer to read the local paper!

I'll pick up the latest Unique Cars magazine when I'm at the airports, but thats about it.
Wheels and Motor I won't touch anymore. Bad enough they are both now rubbish, but they contain the same rubbish constantly.

Unique cars or trade a boat, as both will last a month on the dunny.
Have not purchased a "car" magazine since they released the SC GT 2 years ago.
