The cruze only doing 1875 for the month. With only 2400 commodores going down the line (and a few utes and caprices), maybe Holden may have to slow down the line a bit too.

Geez, remember when Falcon and Commodore would do about 10-12,000 per month combined. Now you need the top 4 to get the same total, just shows how diverse the market is and today's single top seller sells half of what the top seller in the late 90/early 00's did.

How come the motoring media don't jump up and down about the amount of Toyota Aurion sales? 500-something is pretty bad, yet no one says anything...

Doesn't come of the same line as the Camry?

Noticed a few are now multi-franchising. Jefferson Ford sold President Ford to another dealer (now called Brighton Ford) and rebuilt their Mentone site with Jefferson Hyundai as the second brand.

The Ranger advertising has been stepped up now all they need to do is keep the supply up and they will sell more.

I guess because Camry and Aurion are built together and a new engine plant is being built in Altona as well.

Yes...just like the Falcon, Falcon ute and Territory come off the same line - and the numbers of locally made vehicles are greater for Ford v Toyota. Yet this doesnt seem to rate a mention.

Because Toyota's local production is underpinned by substantial exports to Middle East markets?

IF regional supply contracts for Kuga, Mondeo and S-Max were up for grabs, that might help FoA....
but would you build them here or continue expanding Thailand and take a chance on no more flooding there..

Yeah, 1688 sales is looking promising so hopefully Thailand can keep steaming on..
only 619 of them were 4x2 so the income from 4x4s will be good.

why would you build here, it`s too expensive unless your getting a handout from govco, toyota would have been gone too i reckon without a hand out.

this is it in a nutshell. total new car sales year on year don't vary by much, so essentially the size of the pie (new car buyers) is the same. what is changing is the amount of slices the pie is being cut into. australia has one of the biggest range of vehicles in the world. yes thats right. our piddly little nation has more choice than nearly all other countries in the world.

choice is hurting the large car segment. nothing more, nothing less.

there is no reason to point the finger at one model unless you are a hater and lets be honest, AFF has more than its fair share of them.

we do this little dance every month.

But they do so they stay
It's more about encouraging manufacturers to build the right vehicles here that can be exported in our region.

perhaps, maybe i have it wrong, but i always thought we had the right vehicles, if we had a level playing field maybe it would be different,
tarrifs don`t need to be adjusted to give us an advantage , just to make it level pegging, commodore going down the chart should be ringing alarm bells, someone mentioned Aurion too.
our manufacturing has been made the sacrificial lamb of our economy, we already have ripping cars here, we just can`t build them cheap enough.

I'm not suprised, I saw a new Aurion the other day for the first time and the rear end of it was one of the worse looking designs I have ever seen. It was absurd. The dodgy square things they have put in the corners and the near verticle slab that is the rea was vomit inducing. How the hell did it even make it to production looking as bad as it does?

Yeah, imagine a Caprice with Omega trim and you're getting close...
But still, between 200/mth Caprice exports to Middle East and 500 odd PPVs to the USA
plus Buick Park Avenue kits to China, Holden would be doing OK on the LWB side..
