Great to see MOTOR magazine leave everything in the FPV V8 range out of their '60 greatest fast cars EVER' story in their 60th anniversary collectors edition.
The HSV GTS came in at #32. I mention that because I was going to post this in the 'MOTOR mags rspec vs GTS' thread but thought it probably deserves its own thread in the 'pub' for discussion. The GTHO phase III came in at #15 The BF F6 Typhoon came in at #56 Was MOTOR half asleep when they put this together? Personally I was surprised and just checked the countdown again in case I missed something. |

Is that the vf GTS?
Considering it's their greatest FAST cars ever....and until this brand new GTS.....Fpv has been whooping Holden and hsv cars since they started. Even the ford XRs have given it to hsvs over the years. Great to see the F6 in there. Once the greatest performance sedan in the world under 100k Mclaren F1 or P1? |

I'm a Ford bloke ,first and foremost; this list is MOTORS list,it's their opinion and everyone's differs. If you don't agree don't worry; other people may not agree with your list.Just be grateful the manufacturers gave us that good a choice!!

Would like to see the full list, surprised the GT-R-spec isn't included, but I guess it is a world wide list...guessing there is the odd mustang in there?

Don't have the mag with me but the F40 is up there.
The list is fair enough but I would have had at least the rspec in the countdown. MOTOR wants feedback regarding their choice which will see a few replies I reckon from the goggomobil community As you said ingles......plenty of choice for us at the end of the day. |

I pay little mind to these types of things, they're often predictable at best.
Nissan GTR definitely deserves a spot, though. It has given the supercar crowd quite the shake up - just as it's predecessor, the R32, had done in 1989. |

While I get why people would rate the P1 as the no. 1, the F1 in its day, was a paradigm-shift in sportscar performance and construction. OTOH, the P1 is not unique in terms of what it delivers and how (Porsche and Ferrari both have equivalent models).

I only see one car in there and that's the phase 3, who cares about the rest.

These 'lists' are always bs.
Mainly because there would be but a handful of people in the entire world who might have even driven every car on that list (dare I say no-one). Imho, both Motor and Wheels are mere shadows of the great magazines they once were. Its been ten years since they were even worth a read. The 60's to the late 90's were the good years. |

End of the day, they got No 1 right. Who cares if they didn't build the engine, not the first and not the last supercar manufacturer to do it...Pagani, koenigsegg, detomaso etc...the aim is to go fast, handle good and look sexy while doing it.
F1 does all that...and them some.

That car is feakin awesome, and I love the wing too.
But supercharged...come on editor! Mind you most cars that made any grunt from Ford US in that era had blowers; but certainly not this one!

This is almost sig worthy haha. I have to say though, I'm with the others about the Mclaren F1. In its day it was so far ahead of anything else, the fact that BMW made the engine doesn't even come close to ruining its image. In fact I think that adds to the charm. It's creator knew what he wanted and at the time outsourced to someone who had the means to give him what he wanted for the car. The engine BMW came back with was nothing short of amazing. Money aside, I'd own one of these cars in a heartbeat over the newer supercars/hypercars.

I went to the Melbourne Motor Show with my old man to see the Mac F1 in 94, I've been in love with the car ever since. The looks, performance, exclusivity and way in which it achieved what it was meant to do make it the absolute number one IMHO.
