Default Is the chrysler srt8 core ripper value at $49,990 drive away

On carsales there is the chrysler srt8 core for $49,990 drive away brand new..

6.4 Litres of hemi v8 with 347kw and 631nm..

surely this is the best value car full stop. What a car for the money.

the new xr8 has to be a ripper of a car to even come close to this offering from chrysler. I wouldnt even look at a xr6t or g6et next to this car.

what are out thoughts on this car? $49990 drive away. I cant get over the price.

I paid $49,500 and got Nav, Rev Camera, leather and premium paint. To answer the OP's question it is tremendous value. Had mine a week and love it!

Noticed the ad yesterday too. Very good value, not compared to the xr6t though. They can be had for under 40k.

I think they are a completely different calibre of car, xr6t is a cheaper looking car

I think the srt8s competitor is the fpv GT but with the srt8 at $49990 its just irresistable value.

I have a colleague who last year picked up a new SRT8 (not the Core version) for $60K; there was a problem early on with the ECU but since then it's been faultless.

I reckon they are great value.

I have seen one as a hearse, it looks the part, back to topic..... it does look good value, i could live with the looks, but is the fuel city cycle really rated at 20 L per ? Well equipped or not that would sink it for me one also has to wonder how they will age , the more kit, the more stuff that might need service, would you own one long term???

Was a big decision for me. Have owned nine Falcons and currently a SZ Territory (mrs drives kids around in). Loved all of my Fords. Traded a FG turbo which had been a fantastic car for 5 years. Just became disillusioned with Ford and their general lack of interest in Australia. The SRT goes like stink, is full of tech, and a **** load cheaper than a Clubsport R8, which is now it's only real competitor with FPV shutting down. Lots of people I know off have gone down the a Chrysler path, sadly a sign of changing times

With respect how much do you think a Falcon will be in 5 years time when they no longer exist. The handful of people that are buying them are paying 10g less for them now than people like me did in 2009. Have always loved Falcons but they aren't exactly a beacon for re-sale.

^^^ this is my one problem with these cars, no option of a manual gearbox. If they came in manual I may have been tempted, but they don't so no thanks. Otherwise I think it's great value.

They are awesome buying at that price, I also note factory demos with around 5000kms on them are around $46k.

If FG GT had a 5 speed box it'd be heckled. I'm sure it does the job but still in 2014 it's a oddity. I do like them though, Mrs loves them. 50K isn't a bad price but still the recent 55K for F6 was pretty damn good too.

Even better value IMO is the full spec SRT8 with plenty available for around $60K on car sales which are absolutly loaded with technology and equipment and adjustable suspension. The closest competitor is the HSV Senator which costs substaintially more and doesn't include genuine premium sound or adaptive cruise control. (Senator is $30,000 Kiwi more expensive in N.Z.).
Really at this stage its the only logical choice for people wanting serious bang for buck in a large sedan once Australian vehicle production finishes soon...some of us are ahead of the game and after many years of Ford ownership have moved on... and let me tell you it doesn't hurt, life goes on and genine enjoyment of another brand is available for those with an open mind to change...I have yet to see any feedback from anyone buying a SRT8that shows any regrett. They go hard, are a lot of fun, handle better than and burn less fuel than a SC FPV and have a TON more tech and equipment to play with. The heated seats and heated steering wheel are very nice on cold mornings

Why the hell don't they bring the Charger here instead.
The nameplate still has value here after all these years.
They keep saying they can do it if they put the 300 interior into the Charger for the past 2 years for minimal cost. They come down the same factory line.
Do it then enter a Charger team into the V8 Super Cars, who would get more support than Nissan and Volvo combined.
You've got Ford and Holden leaving the 4 Door scene, a Name Plate with value & a Hemi V8. Talk about leading a horse to water.......

Looks are subjective of course but to many, looks play a huge part in buying funnily enough.

Depends what you're talking about. $40k gets you a good performance car in the XR6T but it has no other good features. $50k gets you a good performance car with luxury and plenty of features/tech/gadgets.

I don't see the point of the core edition personally.
The regular SRT 300 is good value enough. Throw in the Herrod exhaust system and, in my opinion, you got a good looking, great sounding luxury barge.
Took a ride in exactly that configuration (black 300)a couple of weeks back.
If I were interested in getting a powerful RWD the 300 would be on that list.
