Default Regards from Florida

Good day ladies and gentlemen, glad to be at least a tiny part of the community. My name is John and I live and work in northwest Florida. I have been here at Tune Ups n Such for 26 years working on practically anything that flies, floats or rolls. Being very close to Hurlburt Field (Special Operations), I have met many fine people from Australia and New Zealand. Recently, I was challenged by a customer to get his Aussie Fords going again. I appreciate any help I may gain here and hope to be able to contribute within my capabilities. So, if there are any US cars there (are there many US cars there?) ya'll need a hand with, just let me know.

Presently, I am working on a '75 XB that says Fairmont all over it. Somebody had swapped a 351C into the bay and put what appears to be a Falcon hood on, the one with the Mach 1 scoops as we know them here. It says Fairmont 500 on the deck lid at the rear, would that be right if it was originally a six banger sedan? Anyway, he said that next I would get to tangle with his 'ute. I can't wait

Four door, automatic. Standard cluster. Twin front seats with center folding armrest. Door decal says it was a six banger at birth.

Captain Risky is a fictional character thought up by one of our Car insurance companies.

Media advertising is a mix of CGI and real stunts using an XB.

The Mach 1 scoops were standard on the XB if ordered with a GS Rally Pack although you could most likely order regardless. Any pics?

Cool..tell him to keep it column auto. I know there are a lot of hardtop xb's over there but seeing a sedan and ute no less is kinda strange.

The 500 on the back is an odd one, only falcon variants had the 500. Fairmont being the " luxury" spec was just plain old Fairmont.

I owned one of those cars in white I think brand newit had 4000ks but sadly I hit a big red roo Just out of Karratha Western Australia and that was a sad end.

great car in the outback.

big red Kangaroos males can often hit six foot and solid it is like running into a brick wall but in this case the brick wall jumps in front of the car .

Hi John, Welcome to the forum.
I bought an XB GS ute brand new back in the day. By the look of that one, you will be occupied for a while.
Some years back I spent a month in Florida and drove all over from Jacksonville down to Key West and had intended to drive over to "Norlins" so would have gone past you, but had to cancel that part out.
Last few years I've been travelling each June over to MN where I had relatives, and being an American Muscle Car fan, I enjoy myself at the Carcraft Nats and Back to the Fifties at Minnesota State Fair Grounds.

Thanks guys, the owner said I get to molest the 'ute once I'm done with the Fairmont. Over here we don't have any jumping cows ('roos), but a good sized deer will damned sure make a mess out of your ride. The shop owner's score card boasts 14 deer, a buzzard, a pecan tree and a dog. As for myself, I've only managed the odd squirrel or armadillo besides plowing a Corvette back in the day in my Mustang II.

2004 BA Ford Fairmont in zest color

I now live in a remote mining town called Broken Hill in the Australian outback 500ks in land and we are like parts of USA in serious drought and we have a major problem with Kangaroos and Emus and wild goats

The Emus are the worst they just run onto the road I hit one several week s ago lucky I had the roo bar

Sadly the roo bars of today are nothing like the ones I first had they have to be air bag complaint and the pedestrian council have got there way and now a major review is on

The negative is it seem that unless you are at risk of hitting wild life in your daily driving duties like people in the city they will not be allowed to have one on the car

It is all being sorted out now and some time next year they will try and bring in the new rules

This will effect many people who go bush on school holiday or work holidays and this is because of the pedestrian council who actually wanted a full ban of all Australian drivers but the farmers federation have stepped in and given there 20 cents worth

Not too many U.S. Cars here . But plenty of Aussy cars with US motors ...
Sad thing is it's about to change .. The current GT Falcon has the Coyotee supercharged engine .
The 6 cyl has our home grown twin cam 6 and turbo version which is a GTREAT package..
Basically the same bore and stroke of the old pushrod 250cube ...
