Article from Practical Motoring website:
AS THE COUNTDOWN to the end of the Commodore continues, Victoria Police has announced it will put the 2015 Holden Cruze SRi into service in October. The smaller Australian-built Cruze SRi will serve alongside the Commodore as a patrol car; it’s unlikely it’ll serve as a highway patrol car. Holden’s Executive Director – Sales, Peter Keley, said Holden had been working closely with Victoria Police to ensure we provided them with the right vehicle for the tough job. “Cruze has all the attributes to make it an excellent patrol car. Its city-friendly size and power combined with its specific tuning for Australian roads ensures the police are in good hands,” said Mr Keley. “We are very proud of our strong relationship with Victoria Police and are very confident these Holden vehicles will perform extremely well......” Full story here :- https://practicalmotoring.com.au/car...new-patrol-car I guess there will be some unhappy Vic Pol members. |

Would not be the first time police use small cars & these days police are not allowed to chase speedsters in built up areas!

The cruise must be struggling if they're trying to get the police market.

Interesting given Cruze is just as terminal as the other Aussie builts supposedly, or are they going to continue with a import version? I used to giggle at watching the UK police shows and their Astra's etc...here we go.

Ford are not chasing low profit fleet sales. Holden would be lucky to break even on these government purchase Cruze's.
Hopefully they have fixed the gearbox failure issues or these cars will spend a lot of time in the workshop. |

It's probably fairly cheap advertising!

I get the feeling the Cruise will continue on in sedan only form seeing as the Astra is hatch only. The police deal being done now would be a way of keeping police sales and stopping them from shopping elsewhere.

Probably selling them at cost just to keep the production line going. Do anyone buy these things anymore?

I used to knock them, the whole Daewoo thing etc. But the missus chose a manual SRi sedan (hated the hatch) in the 'Australianised' 1.6 MY14 version and it's actually a decent drive for relatively cheap. I'm no fan of it's looks, it's not ugly, but not my thing either. But pretty well screwed together, goes well, and returns decent economy. Definitely no pursuit car but...

Instead of a Siren Sound they have been modified to play Benny Hill Music if they are in pursuit.

Holden Cruze = The biggest POS. My wifes Cruze which thankfully is a company car is being tossed out in 2 weeks. Her and all the other poor bastards with one at her work cant wait. Nothing but problems from fault codes coming up that Holden has no idea what they are, sudden loss of power, cracked header tank, rattles from crap plastic to transmission failures. Not to mention the worst seats ever.
For Vic Police to complain about the steering wheel being too low in the Falcon. They get what they deserve.... |

I feel sorry for the police. The Cruze is a vile, horrible car.
We have one at work and it's always the last one taken out. It usually sits alone in the parking yard.

Talking to a couple of friends who are traffic cops about weather they will end up in Mustangs, both guessed they will end up in Camrys.

Wonder if those Cruze's will make their way into Taxi industry after police duties.
I feel for Vic Police on this one.
