I've installed a Roll Master timing chain and the oil slinger. When fitting the harmonic balancer I noticed it was bending the oil slinger. I've had conflicting advice as to whether I need the oil slinger or not? Any thoughts?

I fitted a twin row timing chain in my Windsor 289.
Left no room for the slinger as it was fouling on the timing cover, so read up on the net and decided to leave it out. Seems others do without problems.

The slinger is only there to stop oil splash from the timing chain getting sprayed at the rear of the timing case seal.if you have a good front seal you shouldn' have any leak problems
