Hi all. My name is Mick. New to this forum. Not sure if I am posting in the right area??, I am from Adelaide but live in central Thailand now. Recently I bought a ZD Fairlane here off a Monk ( of all people ). I want to rebuild it in the near future.
I am trying to track down info on vin numbers. The vin is stamped on the drivers side shock tower MWZD54ELY×××××. There is no other tags or plates on the car. In Thailand if a motor is changed all plates are removed. I know "M" is export vehicle but just trying to work out the rest of the numbers/ letters. I have found out some were made in Aust then exported to South Africa for assembly. I am thinking this ZD is one of them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.. Chon Gao ( cheers ) Mick.G. |

Can't help you with the Fairlane but I remember in 1998 I was in Bali and saw a white XB falcon parked in front of a house. Only looked liked a stoçk 6 cylinder version. Was very surprised. They are right hand drive in Bali. Is Thailand right hand drive as well????

Thanks mate. The opposite actually. Had enough of working for others. Sold up moved and married a Thai, we have land and grow corn. Easy life now. Plenty of spare time. Been here 4 years.
I have made friends with 2 Thai guys who have ZC Fairlanes. There is other old Falcons and Holdens here also scattered around the country. |

XA/ZF Falcon parts book makes reference to Thai specific models as well as South African so I should imagine XY/ZD would do the same.

Ok. Thanks for that. I will check it out. Seems the cops used the ZC/ ZD's here in the 70's. I have 1 picture of an old ZC Thai cop car.

The Zd is in ok cond. Only small ammount of rust to be cut out. But Thais do some stupid things. Non standard mirrors above front wheel arch. etc... that will be changed.
