Good evening,
My Ford focus has only 112000km on the clock, and has a weird shaking/shuddering/vibration through the whole car when it is travelling at 40km/h. I must note that it is not when i am operating the brake, or the accelerator. I can speed up to 40 and as soon as i take my foot off the accelerator it starts shaking, or i can go up to 50 and let it slow down on the roll and when it gets down to 40 it starts shaking. Once it goes above or below 40 it stops shaking. When shaking whilst rolling at 40km/h, if i shift into neutral it stops shaking immediately. Please note this is an automatic. I got the tyres replaced today with an alignment and this has not fixed the problem. Please help! |

Nah not the wheel I watched them get balanced yesterday when i got the alignment done, it seems suspicious that it doesn't happen when rolling along in neutral

Hop under and check the CV boots to see that they haven't split anywhere and throwing grease.

The drive shafts should also have a rubber damper on them, make sure it has not fallen off or damaged.
What ever the issue is, if it only happens when rotating under load, then could be an issue with the shaft itself. Do a test and see if it happens at the same RPM or at the same speed regardless of gear you are in. i.e. the engine revs higher at slower speeds in 1st then it does in 2nd. So you can work out is it speedor engine RPM related. Does it do it at the same speed regardless of gear your in? |

Thanks and sorry for the late reply, it turned out to be a transmission problem, yet to be fixed. My focus is 12 months outside of the year range that had a recall due to the transmissions having the same issue. Unlucky I guess! Thanks for the help!
