Default importing a Ford

Hi all, first time I've put something on this site. Anyway, I'm thinking about importing a new Focus ST when they are released in June, as who knows when they will eventually land here in Aus?!!
So my question is..has anybody imported, and how easy or hard is it? Cheers

I don't think buying a Focus ST (I assume you'd be buying one in the UK) and then shipping it out at your own expense is going to work out financially in your favour. Then there is the issue of compliance and my guess a brand new built-for-the-UK car will not be compliant in Australia. But you could park the ST somewhere for a couple of years and then ship it out so compliance could be waived on and old car.

I'm just picking these things up off the top of my head (ie. I could be wrong or I'm not far off being right), but I've read up enough on it to say, the numbers (dollars and time) don't stack up. It would be cheaper to order one here and wait and you won't have to deal with any extra expense with compliance issues.

You can google and find a lot of info on this. This here is just one example.

In short, what you're hoping to do wouldn't result in you getting an ST any sooner and it would cost you a packet in shipping, extra taxes and fixing any compliance issues. Plus you'd have to have used the car for 12 months before shipping it. Really not feasible.
