Not a bad price at all for a mid-engine car delivering the performance it does.

Sure to bring down the ridiculous prices people want for C6s and C7s too.

In a world of car prices getting out of control, that very reasonable! I'm impressed.

I’ve followed this from the Maloo body prototype, to reveal, then on Corvette Forum. Price is good. Z06 will be the one to own! I think they’ve done well. Plenty of good reviews, amongst the sooks. It would have been great if Holden still had a shopfront.
If I had that money in the next year, I’d still be looking for an alternative with a Manual gearbox. I know the auto is still a weapon. Plenty of C7 owners holding onto their stick shift Corvettes.
Recent sales in our booming property market will probably see Australia’s allotment spoken for.

Considering the performance level, etc its actually a pretty damn well priced thing... Amazing what happens when, unlike Camaro, Silverado, its manufactured RHD in the Factory rather than needing conversion... Look forward to seeing them on the road...

I could not live with the C8 Corvette's interior, it's an over-designed, try-hard mess.

Exterior wise, the styling is just meh! Too derivative overall and the rear styling is just awkward. I can't help but feel C8 is a huge missed opportunity design wise.

And the fake engine note pumped into the cabin is atrocious, presumably designed to make the old Chevy small block sound more technically advanced than it is.

I can't help but think Fords attempts at mid-engined sports cars look so much better. And the current one was designed by an Australian.

I think the C8 Corvette will sell to people who have had all the obvious sports cars at this price point and beyond. Me, I would rather spend that money on a Porsche Cayman GTS with the howling 4.0 flat six.

I reckon you're right about the interior, or at least a small part of it. My first thought was "I'd change that middle row of buttons." Maybe there will be some aftermarket replacement? Exterior though, I'd be quite happy with it.

The Ford GT, well, that's in a different price bracket, so no point me considering or comparing it.

Porsche? If I wanted same-same boring, then Nissan GT-R instead. But... No.

To me, price generally doesn't affect the visual design of a car. It cost as much to design an ugly car as a beautiful one. The point I was trying to make was GM had a blank sheet of paper and what they delivered is derivative, almost bland. Ford drew from their heritage and produced something stunning.

Geez, change the middle row of buttons?
Its a beast, and and I doubt you will have time to look at any buttons going sideways at 200 clicks?
Its a beautiful design, and if it was dropped in my lap I would just drive it! Hard!!

GovCo useless at preventing price gouging,
Dealer delivery fees for Corvette sighted at $3000-$7000, and to $25,000 (allegedly $30-40K) and sighted invoices showing a (negative) discount of +$10k

https://www.drive.com.au/news/genera...r-25000-sting/

At least people buying them can afford it (if they choose to pay up for the hour or two of dealership effort)

Hopefully it doesn't happen with other brands, (and might justify the web based ordering model)

25K for a Dealer Delivery Fee.
Are we sure they aren't converting them to RHD in the rear car park.

I wonder if someone else wants to jump the queue and offered to pay $25k-$30k extra……
Dealer then gives original buyer the bad news and wins either way….

For $25K leave it at the docks and I'll pick it up and organise pre delivery in my driveway

Seriously why would you bother with anything new from GM.
They stuck the middle finger up at Australia.

I am happy, sure it would be good to still be able to buy a Falcon or FPV but that ship has sailed. At least we still have Ford dealers where you can go and buy a Mustang, Ranger, Focus, Puma etc. All the Holden folk have are memories

Yep thats my main concern as a consumer ...how the dealers were treated by Ford ... the dealers that stood by their loyal customers (there were some? good ones) fixed everything under warranty ? without having to argue with them ?...the dealers that ramped up prices when there was supply issues , the dealers that gave you the on tap oil grade because it was quick easy and cheap then charged you for the flash stuff

A neighbour of mine has ordered a Corvette. His expected delivery date is October 2023.

I did see a red one on the road and they look stunning. And sound almost as good as my Mustang.

Reality check. Did you expect them to keep losing hundreds of millions on a car next to no one wanted? As much as we wanted falcon to go forever, it wasn’t viable without people wanting to buy it.

The whole cheap large rwd sedan market is basically dead now. Even the mid size segment is largely too, bar camry. Only the expensive rwd luxury sedan is hanging on, and suv’s are destroying that market too.
