Trying to pick a credit card

Now before you tell me they are the plastic of satan, Im going to get one..lol

So Ive made a quick table if you would like to look. Ive searched all the major banks and picked out the ones that I think are pretty good.

I will only/mainly be using it for internet purchases only, so I feel cards with a high annual fee are no good because I wont use it that much.

If you look at the table, I am tossing up between the Virgin Card and the Wizard. The only thing that keeps me away from wizard is the fact that I dont really know them. And the fact that you can get some pretty good accomodation deals with Virgin.

What do you people have? And who do you think I should go with?

Mate i just purchaced a Bank West Zero card, no annual fee,11.99% 4 month interest free period. use to have a ANZ card it was $95 annual fee,19% 30 days interest free, no contest I say. Also very prompt delivery.

Go for the one with the prettiest pictures on it. Either way with a credit card you are gonna get reamed. The only variants are depth and time.

Ive got a Visa Debit card. Same as a credit card except you use your own money. No fees whatsover as long as you purchase on credit.

I've got a Visa debit card with pretty pictures of the defence force. Ahhhh the weird looks I get handing that one over. Almost as good as using a firearms licence to get into bars.

So with the Visa Debt card, do you open a savings account with them and use what money you have from that?

I cant be stuffed changing all my work payment details, so could you have the savings/credit account and not use it unless I deposit some cash for a credit purchase?

Ive got a normal VISA credit card, but I use it like a debit card, pump money into it, and only spend whats in there and dont go into credit. End result is, good credit rating, no interest payments, no hassles using it when I go OS. If you use it like that, your only worry is the yearly fee, so simply choose a card with no yearly fee.

My debit card is linked to a savings account, the car just works like a credit card, not a regular bank card.

I had a secondary debit card, but was unable to use it in the states, it wouldnt authorize. A pure credit card is the way to go if you ever intend on travel.

I have a VISA debit card... Can use it O/S etc but it just takes money out of my savings account... much safer than going into debt IMO..

You can link a VISA debit card to a current account. Thats what i did.

Yup, I've got a visa debit card, its great, you don't have to worry about being tempted to spend money thats not yours...

The Visa Debit card is a good thing... you can buy things off the 'net with it, and when you're down at the supermarket paying for your daily/weekly supplies, if you choose the 'Credit' option, (rather than 'Savings') you can save yourself 20-30+ bucks a month, by not paying Eftpos fees.

have any of you guys a VISA card with no annual fee? I tried to find one of them but only found "Master Card" with out a annual fee? Cheapest i found was ANZ with $30 a year.

VISA debit card, with a cheque book, no annual fee.. that's what I've got! Check out the Credit Unions.

I just got a VISA classic from commonwealth with the intent of occasional ebay international purchases.
They do have one with no annual fee, but there are absolutely no features, still good rates on international transfers though.

Yes this is the best idea, and you dont spend money that isnt yours.

then you cant get in trouble and wont feel bad when you have to pay it back.

give AMEX a try aswell....they have very good online fraud protection if you intend on making internet purchases...

Anyone who throws out their credit card because it 'costs them too money' is a fool IMO. It's all about self control and setting yourself a budget. Plus, if you always pay off your credit card it will lead to better credit rating which (hopefully)will leave a smile on your face when the bank approves your mortgage in the future.

With electronic wages payments, I don't think they allow you to pay it into a credit card account, or at least that was the case with my account a while back.

Mine is a visa blue card
My pay goes into that account and I can only spend money that's already in there
My sister suggested I get that, you can't go wrong.

Use it for ordering car detail products for private use and sale from manufacturers in europe and USA plus movies from amazon, movies unlimited etc.

I have both...a Virgin Credit Card, and my savings accounts have VISA cards.

Use both too often! :P
