Red face Newbie with their first new car

Hi all,

I'm very excited that we've bought our first brand new car. I swore we'd never buy anything as 'common' as a Falcon or a Commodore - that was the first rule. However, I then read and researched countless magazines and websites. I did a huge excel spreadsheet on comparisions. We compared Holden Commodare, BMW 325, Saab, Volkswagon, Subaru Liberty, Mazda 6, Honda Accord/Euro and a few more - 11 all told. Checked out about 7 of them, but we'd made up our minds before we'd even taken a test drive.

So, all that research and comparision and we're now eagerly awaiting delivery of a 2005 XR6 Mk2 - with waaay more options than we could afford. I hereby promise to never ever buy a Holden. We sat in one - felt like a hire car.

We're not car enthusiasts, but we're slowly becoming Ford enthusiasts. Funny, all we notice on the road now is Fords. Anyway, my name is Rae, hello to everyone.

Great choice of car.
I once sat in one for a nice long journey, and, well, I ended up with a very numb, yet sore, butt and lower back. You definitely made the right choice.

Welcome aboard once again, Rae!

I really admire people who actually do their research before committing so much money on a new car. Most of the public will just see an advertisement on television and go by that!

I can't wait to see a photo of your new ride and hope you and your family get many years of trouble free motoring.

I'm told end of first week of Feb before we can pick her up, maybe the second week. It feels like FOREVER - we ordered on Jan 7th.

Shockwave Blue for the colour. I wanted Envy Green, my husband wanted the blue. the car sales guy convinced us to take blue for resale value later on. I love the blue too, so that's cool.

Forgive me , I know nothing about cars (yet), but I read in a review that Limited Slip Differential was a must-have, so that was the first option.

Luxury pack interior (leather/suede seats, individual climate control, prestige stereo). The seats were a tough one. I'm a long-standing vego and haven't gone near leather in 17 years. I didn't like the standard seat covers too much though, so I relented.

Side air bags
18" alloy wheels
Towpack
Boot scuff guard
Alarm kit
Window tint
Aux audio plug in (for the iPod)

We didn't need to think about whether we wanted a Turbo or not. Not big on the V8s for general driving.

Haha - we've already talked about the first time someone pulls up next to us at the lights and revs the engine.... just as the lights go green and they attempt to drag us, we're gonna take off at oh, about 5 k's an hour.

Congratulations on your purchase and welcome to the forums.
You just might find, you can never leave!

Envy would be my prefered choice - but I love green!
But the new blue is really pleasant as well! Nice choice.
