Default Interesting Paper on Car Anti-theft Systems

Hi guys and girls,

Two interesting conclusions:

Watch you keys! With modern immobilisers being so effective, a thief will try to get a key to steal your car. Where is your spare key kept?

Lexcens get stolen less than Commodores Joyriders seem to have a bit of taste and prefer their Commodores to have lions rather than upturned sombreros on the nose. :

Whenever my car goes anywhere that I have to hand over the keys, I always re-code the keys and purge the system, just in case someone thinks they will be smart and get them their own set of keys for my car.
I also NEVER use my real address when giving my details. (usually give the address of our family's business)

Paranoid probably, but even if they didn't go after my car, you never know, someone might pay the house a visit while I'm not home.

It's in my owners manual. I just follow the instructions to purge any other keys from the system, so any keys that someone might have made for my car, won't work.

thats pretty good.

my opinion:
i don't think its the type of immobiliser the car has .... its the type of car that they want.

i remember in my early days .. my cousin used to tell me how to steal cars :S .. btw i never done it ...

and i just got word he might be doing some time for a while ... so im happy about that.

other then that ... i believe its the car .. not the immobilizer

I'm looking into getting a 3 point passive arming immobiliser some time next week.
I require it for my insurance.
