Default People going to the gym won't walk?

I walk past a number of gyms in my travels .. especially walking between offices first thing in the morning (about 7am) and of an evening out in the 'burbs (evening walk with wifey). I notice there is a mad, frantic effort by gym patrons to park as close as possible to the gym, regardless of the fact there are MANY, easy parks maybe 100m away? Case in point this morning was a woman trying to jam a BMW SUV-thingo in a "compact" carpark, just so she was 10m from the front door of the gym ... I later saw her move same truck around the corner (maybe 20m?) just so she could park outside a cafe and get a coffee before heading on her way! I realise people live busy lives, but do they forget the reason of going to gym is to get fit .. a little extra walking wouldn't kill them!?

Yeah I've noticed that for a long time.

Some people go to the gym and just stay on the treadmill, but if they ran from their house to the gym and than ran back they probably wouldn't need to go (unless they live down the road from the gym).

Ha ha ha. It's so funny.

My brother works opposite a gym and his work has a sign up saying staff only, yet gym patrons still use it than up the road.....

The same question I ask our daughter who turns 18 on saturday (god help me!). We live a 5-10min walk from the gym but she frequently asks to be driven there. I keep telling her that there are a couple of bikes in the shed, if you can remember!, that belong to you & your sister. Why don't you ride one of those?. Just too lazy? No, her reply, "I'm not riding a bike to the gym, people will see me"
WALK then, Is what I tell her.

I go to the gym 2-3 times a week and yes I park close. Normally so I can keep an eye out on the GT through the windows however. No other intension, but I guess many people go to the guy because they have to or need to. Not to bask in the joy of phyical expercise..lol

I also go to a gym on the way home from work 3 or 4 afternoons a week and always park as close to the door as possible. I guess it's just human nature and our busy lifestyles these days that make us do things that seem lazy. I normally park as close as I can to wherever it is I going, ie the servo ,bottle shop hardware or woolies.

I thought it'd be something to do with working so hard you can hardly move, so a few less steps before getting in the car can only be a good thing..

If your a diabetic and your going to McDonald's you don't have to worry about the sugar in the coke, unless you drink the syrup straight form the box.
