It's not just a US Fairlane, it is the Tbolt!

It had a factory 427 with top loader. Very rare.

Not $200,000US rare though! : :lookedat:

Well, I guess it's always going to be the old argument that "something is worth precisely what somebody else is willing to pay for it". I wish my ZH got the same response... :jab:

Do you guys know what you are looking at there?

That car is the rarest factory performance ford EVER!

I would give both left and right testicles for the thing....and my wife, dog, and EL collection....

Thats the toughest ford ever!!

Remember, it was running 11's in 1964, on 155 cross plies.....

Wasnt this puppy the fastest ever produced factory car until recent? running 11's in the 1960's was a BIG deal. I think they had some fibreglass panels aswell. Wouldnt mind one at all, hell, i'd even settle for that engine

omg... that is like a wet dream... imagine that in your garage... and beating al these amatuers in commodores and rice burners... i dare say that would beat majority of cars on this site... running 11s out of the box man, in a 40 year old car... imagine that now... would be nearly impossible... with pollution and politics mainly... we can only dream...

Comparing a P3 to this car is just a waste of text....

This is one of the cars that started it all...

To put it all in perspective, current prices put a Phase 3 at $1/4M AUD.
429BOSS $1/4M USD

Fairlane thunderbolt, in all reality is priceless.... 1 of what, 100? And 1 of *2* motors built with the M/T Hemi head?

By sum of parts no musclecar is "worth" this sought of money, but people are happy to pay it for a rare piece of history. Like Hemi 'Cudas, ZL1 Chevs, etc the Thunderbolt is a legend and will probably achieve this price. Take the time to learn about the history of Ford ..

Back to the topic - well good luck to the seller and ultimate buyer. In spite of it's apparent history and uniqueness, I just can't get US$200,000+ excited about it. I guess my automotive zealot blinkers have been off for to long now! :party3:

$228,850 and climbing. Must be a few people wanting to get their hands on it. 24 bids on some seriously dollars. Well it's not my cup of tea, but I'm sure the new owner will be a happy camper. Good read too

Well I learnt something new... it is staggering how fast that thing is. Something else that is interesting is that the ebay ad has to be the longest one i've ever seen, with all those scanned docments..

what an awesome car! 429, manual, fairlane And a terrific resto, even with the papers signed by Boyd Coddington...

and thats not even close to the longest eBay listing.. someone found an online version of a couple of hundred passages from the Bible or something, and had that tacked onto the bottom of their listing.

Thunderbolts were designed and built for one express purpose: To be the fastest thing down the 1/4 mile period.... Looks never came into it, Thunderbolts were incredibly fast and down right nasty. I’ve never seen one in the flesh but photos of them launching usually show them with about a finger print of front tyre on the ground and the rear just holding together. The fact that some survive is also amazing, drag racers usually carving them up to make them faster or using the drive line for something else.

I've got a '64 Fairlane and I would just love to have a T-bolt too.

I'm a little young to remember the sixties but just remember that the Thunderbolt was one of the first cars that Ford built for outright racing and was the start of "Total Performance" and those three great words stamped into the rocker covers of some of the greatest cars (Ok, I'm biased!) ever made: "Powered by Ford"

Mustang, Falcon GT, AC Cobra, GT40, De Tomaso Mangusta & Pantera, Bowell Nagari, Fairlane Thunderbolt and so many more!

The Bowdens would struggle to even match some of the collectors in Americar, no offense intended. Considering the Greenwood Corvette went for more then $500,000 and I've heard of Hemi 'cudas going for more then $100,000, I would expect this car sell for around $400,000.

But do Show/Race cars really count? You could say the GT90 is rarer, but it was a 1 off show car...

The Thunderbolt was built as a Homologation special, just like a Phase 3, just the rules they were homologating to only needed a handfull of cars built, but you could buy the damn thing through *any* ford dealer if you had the $$.

I love the fact it cost Mickey Thompson $1.00 to buy this car from the factory! She'll probably crack $500,000 USD. An original Shelby Cobra 427, with history, went for over 1.5 million USD recently....
