Default Sleeping Habits

I was just going thru a few threads and i have noticed times at which people post. There all over the shop, some are at 3:30AM! i understand that some people do shift work, which would explain alot. However i know of a few people that post at 12ish or later at night and work during the day and post pretty much 24 hours a day.
Do you guys get any sleep.
Ok at this point i think everyone thinks that i am on a rant, WRONG! I was just enquiring about peoples sleeping habits and how much sleep ya get or should get.
Personally i need around 8 hours average a night and i get up at 5:30 to start work by 7:30 so that means i'm usually asleep at around 21:30.

what are other people like?

Lately been surviving on around 3 to 4 hours sleep... not sure if functioning correctly, but hey... seem to be almost normal :

I think you are supposed to get around 8 hours sleep but there are probably a lot of people that don't and a lot don't want to take 'drugs' to help them sleep .. so they go without :

4-5 hours is ample rest for the body. Sleeping 8 hours a night = 1/3 of your life wasted....
Not my idea of getting the most out of your life...

I usually sleep at 2-3am (I work casual a few days a week to 12.30am) most mornings and arise at 10am-1pm. Because I'm a Uni bum, I'm able to post throughout the day/evening etc. In saying that, any chance I get to check the forums I usually do LOL!

but i am a very light sleeper and a simple bump of the night can be enough to keep me awake for the rest of it!!

Thurs night-sat..... i'm on night owl time. 3-4am then get up around 8-9am.

Geez i thought i was bad. then again i'm a heavy sleeper, a bomb could go off in my room and i would flinch.
Like when i was doing nightshift, i some days i wouldn;t sleep much but then i would catch it up the next, so it went something like 4, 10, 6, 9,3

I have no routine. I sleep whenever I can. Some mornings I'll go to bed at 3 or 4am, wake up at 6am and work till 7pm. Sleep is near impossible at my house. My brother usually wakes me up. It just means I go to work earlier and earn more money for another car which shouldn't be too far away from now.

I go to bed about 11:30pm/12pm and on work days I get up at 4:40am to start at 6am.
Most afternoons when I get home I will have a nanny nap for an hour or so, then on my days off I'll sleep until whenever I damn well like!!

I have no sleeping habits. Due to the rostering I work I could be working 0600hrs one day, 1500hours the next and then 2300hours the next. Some days I finish at 2300hrs and start next morning 0700hours. :

Me no never.

You need more of either one or the other, or you just fall out of the wrong side of the bed again.

Bed at 12-1 weeknights, up at 6:45. I'm alright once I get some food into me. It takes it's toll as the week wears on though.

Looks like there are a lot of sleep deprived people on this thread.

Sleeping less than 8 hours a night probably doesn't create any more time in your life.
Studies indicate that inadequete sleep or sleeping at odd hours increases the risk of major illnesses, including cancer, heart disease, diabetes and obesity.

Due to my "night-owl" previous employment of many years ago, my sleeping patterns are up ИИИИИe creek.

I havent known what a good nights sleep is for the last 10 years. Insomnia can be a b@strad on its own (never feeling tired enough to sleep at night is a curse) but combine that with my cronic sleep apnea, well lifes just a pain.

Sleep apnea to those that dont know is a condition that causes sufferers to stop breathing whilst sleeping. While that in itself seems deadly, actualy it isnt. The brain will automaticaly take controll when the body has stopped breathing and "wakes" you so you can regain breathing controll.

Some serious sufferers like me stop breathing constantly through out the night (up to 25 times i wake up) whilst other can stop breathing for around 30-45 seconds. You can imagine how deprived the body can be when sleep is like that!

It can be helped with breathing masks and pumps, but i found that impossible to sleep with a mask wrapping my face and a loud pump running all night. Though some pot can help me sleep :

Depends on my shifts ... I am on a rotational day/night shift roster .. it's all over the place ... I do minimum 12 hour shifts ... have had to do the odd double shift as well.

Then there's my other job ... and that's about 10 hours of driving/delivering as well (on my days off from the shiftwork).

Sometimes I finish a nightshift and start at 7am doing my courier work around Sydney.

Some weeks a get a decent break .. others I don't ... and I usually get only one weekend off a month ... sometimes 2 if I am really lucky.

I sleep when I can get a chance to lay down and shut my eyes.

I also live about 75km from my place of employment as well ... has been numerous occasions after a nightshift I have had to stop on the side of the road before because I was too tired to make it home in one go ... so a 30min-1hr power nap allows me to finish my drive home on the odd occasion.

having a baby is going to be hard ... seeing as it will be on the cards in the near future ... nightshift/dayshift and sleep with a baby is going to be stressful.
