With the commomwealth games, Grand Prix, Big Concerts.... coming up soon. I pondered the question, IF in the event of a terrorist attack, and your at work (eg MCG, Melbourne Park, Telstra Dome, Albert Park) and you are injured because of it. Do Workcover pickup the tab for your medical/hospital bills for injuries/sickness thats a result of a Terrorist Attack???
And further to that if they dont has anyone asked the question do your own private health insurance cover injuries/sickness as a result of a Terrorist Attack?? |

You will find that most home, contents and car insurance dont cover acts of terrorism so you ask a valid question do other forms of insurance cover you? Hmmm

wether or not workers comp covers you in the event of a terrorist hit is immaterial.... It is your employers responability to cover you, and the employer has insurance to cover heir expenses. Same as car insurance, if you smash into a mercedes and your insurance company doesn't allow your claim, you are still responsible for the damage caused.

Even though your employer has to have a safe work environment. The insurance companies could call it an act of god (sorry for the bad pun). In the form that it was totally unpridictable and out of anyones hands. So if you get injured at work you because of a terrorist attack I highly doubt that you would be given compansation.
Why not ask victims of 911. They were at work and got injured by a terrorist attack did they get pay out? I don't know.

WorkCover is a governmet insurance scheme and I don't think they can exclude things like the private sector do. I wouldn't like to test it though - means you get hurt!

Dear Workcover,
While I was at work yesterday, this happened. Please send my weekly pay of 2 goats and a camel to the burns unit of downtown Baghdad hospital until further notice! |

Your employer has to pay you if you are injured at work. the employer gets that money from their insurance company. If the insurance company doesn't pay, then the employer still has to. In car terms. You smash your car into a rolls royce. your insurance company denies the claim because you were drunk. You still owe the rolls royce owner his money. If this doesn't answer your question, how about a bit more info than "you reckon" |
