Default Looks Like Australia Choked Again, HA HA

We only scored a mere 434 runs off our 50 overs against Greame "Can't keep his ИИИИing mouth shut" Smith's South African team. World record score, what a batting performance. :

Unbelievable.

I couldn't believe Australia got over 400 runs in the first place, but for South Africa to actually win the game is very impressive.

all i can say is poor mick lewis...113 runs off 10 overs.

Really bad loss, no matter how good the track is, you post a world record score, and it doesnt even make it to the end of the match..not good.

Was good to see Tony Greig being south african again...During the ashes he was english, when he goes to india, hes indian...and once cricket starts here domestically he becomes aussie..heheheheh

I just cant believe 434 was not enough in a one day match.

What a game! I stayed up & watched it all! Well being an ex-pat south african I had to stay up and watch it.
When Australia made that mammoth score I thought we had no chance. When they were 4/1, i came close to going to bed.
But in steps Gibbs & as they say in the classics, "the rest is all history".
with the start of the 1st test on thursday, australian selectors have to take a close look their bowling attack. not being able to defend 434 is demoralising.
Anyway, I think its time for a red bull! Oh, so who choked again? lol

The Aussie's didnt choke but what a performance but credit where credit is due & SA performance gets the node a ODI with almost 880 runs scorred in 100 overs it doesnt get any betta than this.

Did anyone get on the net and check out what the odds were at change of innings? IASBET has live betting but I didn't bother to look as I thought the game was over lol.

Unbelievable... only twice has 400+ been scored in a one dayer and they were both in the same friggin game!

This now rivals the Essendon v North Melbourne as the greatest ever comeback in sport history...

At the end of the Aus innings my son said to me, its all over. I said, a small ground, great batting pitch, lightning outfield, sub standard Aussie bowling line up and SA who have a tradition of never giving up, I dont think they will do it, but they will give it a good shake. Look what happened. Doesnt matter what your bowling is like, defending that total should have been a shoe in. The selectors have a lot to answer for, I bet the likes of Gillespe and Kasprowitch were shaking there heads like everybody else. Take nothing from the SA, chasing is always harder than defending and chasing that score was worth 500 runs.
Monumental effort.

I hate the current Australian Cricket team, , they act like a bunch of spoilt rich kids, and they show NO maturity or leadership towards our younger youth.

Well done South Africa, , good to see the Australians get beaten.

( P.s. - Yep, I am a true blue Aussie )

I was trying to find live commentary and i remember seeing Betfair add pop up offering $1.05 or something close for the Aussie win, don't recall what South Africa were..

Great match, don't think we will see anything like that again soon!

During the innings break on Fox sports they had Mark Waugh & Brendon Julian discussing the game. During this time Julian said South Africa had a 1000-1 chance of winning!
Its just bad bowling that brought the demise of australia including a lot of things going well for south africa.
Lets also not forget the 196 run drubbing australia suffered on this tour. Combine that with yesterdays losing effort, I dont think any player besides ponting, symonds & roy would consider their places safe in the side!

Plenty of negativity against Australia again. As soon as they lose 1 match or so theres plenty of bagging. Hindsight is a wonderful thing and they only lost really by 1 ball. What would have been saying if they had won by 1 ball. The same thing? Yeah right.

Mick Lewis is a joke to australian bowling. And to top it off Ponting should be questioned in his regard to continue put Lewis in as he was being pummeled by the SA batters. Bad captency there and even worse bowling by Lewis. Man he's gonna cop it when he get home!

Bad bowling by Lewis I agree, but why would Ponting bowl him in the last few overs when his confidence is obviously low. Although Lee can be expensive it infuriates me to know that he could have bowled 2 of those Lewis overs, Lee is a wicket taker and he couldn't possibly have gone for more than Lewis did in his last 2 overs. When your best ODI bowler of the last year has 2 overs up his sleeve at the end of the innings then questions have to be asked of Ponting's decision making.
Maybe he saw the betfair odds in the break and had a wager

I defeinitely wouln't have. It was Lewis' crap bowling effort and the dropped catch by Bracken which swayed the game for me IMO.

Even if the aussies had won, by 1 ball, it shouldnt have got as far as it did. I can only imagine how far the game would have got with Pollock and Mcgrath in the game.

Yes, records were broken, but complacency by the australians lost the game for them!

That was what frustrated me also. How could you let a second rate bowler in the cruicial overs of the match bowl his worst innings internationally and at his lowest form? I just didnt understand the logic in letting Lee sit out overs which 'could' have made a difference in the game. Hell you could have let gilchrist bowl and I reckon he could have done better than Lewis. :
