Arrow Ford too Gay????

from www.carpoint.com.au

Pastors are preaching against Ford after the company donated $10,000 to a Gay Pride rally in the US

US Christian conservative group, the American Family Association (AFA), wants a nationwide boycott of Ford for what it deems as "obscene" homosexual-themed advertising shown in Europe last year and the automaker's support of gay marriage.

The group claims three million supporters and runs a reactionary website at boycottford.com

Last month the AFA asked visitors to the website not to buy vehicles from Ford or its other brands in response to the company's $10,000 donation to a gay pride event in Ferndale.

According to the Detroit News 'Autos Insider', dealers have received letters and e-mail messages from residents concerned about Ford's support of gay and lesbian organizations, some from long-time customers who vowed not to buy another Ford until the company changes it policy.

"This is a social issue that Ford really has no business entering into," said AFA spokesman Randy Sharp. "We're telling them: 'Make cars and sell cars.'"

Ford told Autos Insider that the AFA's message is blatantly misleading, and that the company supports a variety of charities and community events but doesn't have a political agenda. Despite this more than 70 per cent of readers responded in favour of the Christian conservatives in Autos Insider's website cyber poll.

So if any company should steer clear of social issues, what will happen to sponsorship?

strange how some groups can speak out and critisize, but others are condemned if they do. it's a strange world we live in.

The American Family Association also want to ban our "Where the bloody hell are you?" ad. They're just an ultra conservative bunch of assholes from the Bible belt in the States. I bet they'd vote Family First too if they had the chance!

So these tools have 3 million supporters? So what. How many Gay people are there in the world? 200 million? (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Because of one religious belief (that is quite fanatical) the rest of the gay world has to follow suit. What happens if the gays buy Fords. Do they get rejected from the house of God?

This is terrible. It's like racism but aimed at someone's sexual orientation rather than race. It's crazy. I believe that gay people aren't really religious due to the fact that every religion shuns them. I don't believe there is a 'house of God' as I'm not religious. I'll probably get flamed (as usual) for expressing my views, but I think religion gives people biased opinions.

These religious nazi's are definately outnumbered by gays, but think about how many conservative governments there are in the Western world... our govt, the Bush govt, Canada's Harper govt... the list goes on. i'm just worried that these far-right es will actually take a stand. that's not democracy

It'll only be a few select numb-nuts that would boycott driving/buying a Ford for this reason. They're not worthy to behind the wheel of a Blue Oval if that's the case.

Interesting, so the idea is to crumble like a pansy and not drive a Ford. Is that right? America always has been a backward country...

Well...poofs probably don't like walkin any more than everyone else. It might even be painful for some of them. But atleast they will be persuaded to buy somehthing with a blue oval on it.

Fords probably taken a gamble on this one and figured they could sell more cars by targeting gays as opposed to a bunch of right wing crackpots. Besides we need someone to by the Ford Focus

As stated before, It was the TERRITORY that was Second Gay car of choice. Just becasue Focus is small and therefore seen to be a chicks car does not say anything about sexual preference of those who drive them, the afforementioned result looks like its the bigger cars that are getting chosen by our homosexual population erm, Fairlane....
